After asking my ex she came back with the following, I now see you have a consensus, but maybe this will muddy the water.

I would expect him to say something like that after the last elections and the constituency projections going forward. The problem he will face is that if it is the same group mindset that he has now, it is going to be a waste of time. Look at what has transpired in the past several weeks regarding women's rights? I don't see any change.

As I said in my intro, except for the political BS this is a pretty cool site. Just remember that most of the news people are paid by the word, they can't go up there and say nothing and they think the more controversy they foment will help them. Listen to NPR and you can avoid much of it. This from a guy who used to be in the GOP, now independent. Don't trust or believe either end of the spectrum.

Steveo52, Nice to hear from a fellow New Englander. As a kid after my first year of college I worked at a boat yard on Winnipesaukee and on the ski patrol at Gunstock. Local boy makes good, but the selective service took a look and said "this kid is having way too much fun" and invited me into the military (infantry). Some of the mountain nicknames are funny, we always knew Mt Snow as Mascara Mountain, for obvious reasons. Hope your learning well in your time on the site. Keep in touch, if you are so inclined I might let you "borrow" those Time-Life Photo series. Much of it was not necessary (in my mind, probably because I knew so little). but they gave a great explanation of the relationships that make up a good photo. That, and a wonderful piece of advice from a terrific photographer when asked by my Dad 50-60 years ago at a show "How do you always have such beautiful photos?" = I throw out the crummy ones.

When your wife gets back online, look into Komando.com. She is a retired IBM-er that has created a computer advice empire out in Arizona. She has a number of free daily/weekly newsletters that discuss all things computer. She covered this one on June 11, going through prevention and cure suggestions. She also has daily free downloads for all types of ad prevention stuff plus many others. I have a free Spybot Search and Destroy program that I love and is particularly thorough. Of course you have to keep them up to date and run them periodically. If you don't mind a little shilling for stuff from her store, it is really worthwhile.

Welcome to you all. Have been following your site for a week or so, Other than the crass political stuff seems like a good place to learn a lot. I am a geezer, got my first real camera, used, more than 40 years ago, Canon Pellix (no laughing). Learned how to use it by using it (non professional) and reading the Time Life Camera series of books, was really good explaining the concepts of how a picture is created and the relationship of aperture, speed, both lens and film. I saw earlier a question earlier about good, free Photo software. Years ago, I picked up a free disc (included with something else) of Adobe Photoshop 5.0 LE (limited edition). It's great for basic stuff, if you can find it somewhere. Now have a little Kodak 2mp, point and shoot that is handy. Thinking about going to a more big boy camera that has the functionality of the Pellix. Would any of the lens that I still have for the Pellix, 28, 50, 70-200, work on any Canon DSLR's understanding they wouldn't have all the functionality? Thanx for any help, you seem like a great, diverse group.

at ease in the rocker
