I notice that my loupe images in the Library module in Lightroom 5.7 are not as sharp as the same image is in the Develop module. So if I want to see how sharp or clear my image is, I switch the image over to Develop. I am wondering what I am doing wrong (if anything) that causes an image in the Library module to appear less sharp than the same image in the Develop module. Thanks for any advice. -FiddleMaker

FiddleMaker,
Nothing wrong ! You are looking at thumbnails in library.

I also upgraded 3 PC's with no problems. The only potential problem may be old-old software (10 yrs??) or device drivers (ptrs & scanners, etc)

PRIME noise reduction in DXO can only be used on RAW files. HI QUALITY is available for everything else. PRIME is amazing and since I don't shoot JPG, haven't done a comparison.

good info thanks , do you know if the 1900 is the newer of the two?

Yes, I believe so. The 2200 was 7 inks. 1900 is 8 and both have been discontinued. Epson site says 1900 was replaced with R2000 (8 inks). Just google them both and you'll be able to put together a time line and find the R1900 is still available.

I read that if using a long lens, longer than 200mm, you should use a tripod collar. I also read that if using a tripod you should use a L-bracket.

Does the collar replace the L-bracket or do you use both at the same time? The collar when using a long lens and the L-bracket for all the other times.

Jon, an L bracket is a great accessory to maintain a rigid mount and be able to go from landscape to portrait setup without changing tripod setup. It is NOT USED to support a heavy lens. Most all manufacturers of popular hi quality metal (heavy) lens provide a collar to relieve stress on the camera lens mount. If your long lens is primarily plastic construction, it probably did not come with collar. If you search for collars, you will find they were designed for a particular lens and most likely made of plastic and not very rigid. I have a Canon 100mm macro lens (plastic 1.25 lbs & doesn't come with collar) and a metal 70-200 f2.8 at 3.5 lbs . Very difficult to balance on tripod if I try to use camera mount ! This is important especially with non-metal camera bodies.

I bought an R1900 over 5 yrs ago to replace an R800 that ended up with head problems. I also wanted something larger than 8 1/2 x 11. I don't do a lot of printing lately, so for the last year or so, I run a head check every week and have had to do a clean just once. If I have a large job, I farm it out to WHCC. I don't think I will ever have to reset or replace the ink pad. Also only use Epson inks. I will buy Epson again if this one bites the dust. No experience with the 2200.

I have (2) 1200's and (1)300. I haven't used them very much this year. I had a problem with the 300 within a year of purchase, but Adorama replaced it immediately. I'm happy with price/reliability compromise.

You might want to also check its' specs for color reproduction. Make sure it reproduces a minimum 99% of the sRGB gamet. More expensive IPS LCD monitors cover the Adobe RGB gamet such as the Dell UltraSharp series which I use.

The nice thing about DxO Optics Pro is that it recognizes camera and lens used in the photo and downloads it right away.
How do I get the lens profiles for Lightroom? There are a few, but none are the lenses that I use.

In LR CC thay are automatically added. open a file, goto DEVELOP, scroll down to LENS CORRECTIONS, click on ENABLE PROFILE CORRECTIONS, then select MAKE & MODEL from list.

If it is the Canon 70-200 mm f/2.8 lens, it's a very good lens. I have NEVER intentionally bought an IS lens. I rarely use a tripod, and my photos are just fine, thank you. I used my Canon 70-200 mm f/2.8 non IS lens for many years, until it was stolen, and I haven't been able to afford to replace it yet.
Before you buy the "used" lens, check on the price of a new one at B&H or a similar used one, if available, from KEH.

I own the original non-IS. Look at the many reviews, you will find it is one of THE best lens available, bar none. I also used it with extension tubes & flash on my 50D for insects & butterflies before I got a macro lens. Hand-held at 1/250th or faster with a good support technique works very well. Use it with Canon 2X tele for birding in the yard on a tripod, use a mono-pod for airshows. It's definitely not a lite-weight !

I'm visiting France next week, what will I need to charge batteries with?

Will need an power adapter kit that includes an E/F adapter for France/Germany. Rest of Europe uses a C adapter. Probably easy to find locally.
