Sorry got careless there, it all depends on your budget but my 1st example used under $500
With practice and good technique, you can go pretty cheap and get something like a canon Sl1 with a Tamron 28-75 2.8. For basketball and volleyball the near side to you may be an adequate reach. Then again a 7d mkii would work much better because it shoots 10 fps. Then again 7the 1dx or many other Nikon bodies

I use one on my canon bodies and absolutely love it, very sharp and vc is the reason I use it. Bought mine from Canada and sent it there for service(wrestler fell on me and causing damage) and they covered the damage
Thank you all, jcboy I'll look at that Lowe pro
I have and nothing large enough yet. I may have to bite the bullet and go to NYC B&H and see them for myself. Just hoping someone saved me the trip
Hoggers help, Is there a backpack that will hold a 1d mkiv w a 300 mm 2.8 and a 5d mkiii w/70-200 2.8 and a 3rd body w/ 24-70 2.8. All mounted for quick access at sporting events.
Thanks in advance
I've been using this lens for more than 2 Yrs, I absolutely love it.the versatility of a 120 to 300 is unparalleled for sports. It is quite sharp and fast af. Don't even think about it, just get it. Beware it is a monster (heavy) so get a good monopod. My number one lens for soccer and football
On my old 7d I found that if auto lighting optimizer was on the noise was unbearable. Turned off and shooting with a 70-200 2.8 I got much better results shooting HS football game in extremely poor lighting. Had to drop shutter to 140 at 2.8 and got about 35% usable keepers when movement wasn't as fast.
Simple,24-70 2.8 and 70-200
I agree with the others who recommended the 5dmkiii, auto focus is so advanced and quick you'll be amazed. Once you get used to it it's great. Also the fps are not too bad. I find myself using it for sports more and more. Good luck and have fun
I just bought the tokina 100 2.8 macro, priced at $359.00 at adorama, great reviews and so far I'm impressed with image quality. I'm just starting so I'll see how it goes. You may want to research them all.
Good choice and you saved money for glass
