I checked the forum on this topic and many posts are old. I just want to create a website (I know I have to pay for the domain name) but would prefer not to pay a monthly / yearly fee to set it up and use it to store and share photos. I might consider selling photos in the future so it would need that capability. I already use sites like Shutterfly, Amazon, google and others for cloud storage but would prefer to set up my own website and then eventually grow it if I decide to sell photos ( I am willing to pay the monthly fee if I decide to sell photos down the road). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If you have Photoshop, you have to pay nothing, its build right in and it's a fully functional website!

Advert for this crowd funded photography product keeps popping up on my computer - does anyone have one and/or experience of using it? It does sound impressive I must say.

Hogs,
I have been using Elements for some time and I spent time investigating Affinity Photo. I would like to now use the industry standard - PS and LR. I have watched many tutorials but I also like a good book for reference. I know about Scott Kelby's contributions but authors like Martin Evening and Rafael Conception are new to me. Any recommendations for books on either LR or PS are sought.
Thanks,

The photoshop bible pretty much explaines the whole program and even has a few tutorials. Good and easy read!

I bought Photoshop CS5 as a close out just before Adobe went to a subscription service. CS5 met all of my needs until but I bought a Canon 5D Mark 4 which produces RAW files as CR2. This format is not compatible with CS5. I do not want to go to PS subscription since CS5 does everything except RAW files for me. I can use the software from Canon to process the files, but I was wondering if there is a work around that can be used with PS CR5 - I cannot update the program from Adobe. Any thoughts?

Yes it certainly is, because CR2 files are being used by Canon cameras for about 20 years, your CS5 is just not able to adjust to the Mark IV. 6.7 I think is the latest version of ACR that can be upgloaded into CS5 and thats just way to old to handle newer cameras.

I love my Rebel T6i but I think it’s time for a full frame camera. Trying to get opinions on which is the right choice.
I have heard good things about both.
Money is not a concern, but being a novice I’m not sure which way to go. I’m not looking to be a professional but I have been told I am a decent amateur.

I plan on adding a 24-70 and a 70-200 as well as a good macro.
I like making landscapes and just started some still life projects, not interested in portraits. Suggestions and opinions are welcome. Thanks

The M IV is a pretty decent camera, the 6D M II is pretty much just crap (it has the worst sensor that Canon has ever put out!)!

My question is for those with the Lee ND filter system & regarding their polarizer: At ~ $240 US It seems so pricey to me. I’m wondering if anyone has substituted a good but less costly substitute? If so what, etc.?

I would stay away from Lee filters, they are very low quality, but very high prised! I got rid of all of mine!

I would recommend you look at DaVinci Resolve 16.

scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the free download button.

They have some training stuff on their web site, and many tutorials on YouTube.

Just not the pro version (that's $29,000)!

I just had old home movies and VCR tapes converted to digital. Is there a recommendation for a very simple editing program? All I need to do is cut out and delete certain sections and maybe cut and paste in a few other places.

I apologize that this isn't a still photography question but I couldn't resist asking here with the immense and diverse expertise on this blog.

Photoshop is a great video editor, you can rent for a couple of month for 20 bucks and be done with it, if that's what you "wanna" do.

One more, but this one is not (sadly) a shot of the back yard!

I have a Canon 5dMk3 and two Canon CMOS cameras. I know from experience that using a lens designed for the CMOS Camera (d70 and SL2) on my full-frame will create a vignette but let's turn the tables. Are there any problems I should be aware of for using a full-frame Canon and/or Tamron lens on a CMOS camera body. I won't get into what "advice" I've been given before. This is a very advanced discussion group so I really would value your opinions.

The 5D M III is a CMOS camera, but I think you might have that confused with EF-S lenses and "crop cameras. EF lenses can be fully used on both types of camera, were EF-S lenses are only to be used with "crop" size sensor cameras only. There are a few exeptions with third party crop lenses that use an EF mount, some of those are compatible!
