Digital Video editing

I just had old home movies and VCR tapes converted to digital. Is there a recommendation for a very simple editing program? All I need to do is cut out and delete certain sections and maybe cut and paste in a few other places.

I apologize that this isn't a still photography question but I couldn't resist asking here with the immense and diverse expertise on this blog.

I would recommend you look at DaVinci Resolve 16.
https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve/

scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the free download button.

They have some training stuff on their web site, and many tutorials on YouTube.

Photoshop is a great video editor, you can rent for a couple of month for 20 bucks and be done with it, if that's what you "wanna" do.

Just not the pro version (that's $29,000)!

iMovie on a Mac and Photos on a Windows PC are the free/included video editors that are on your computer. If you have an old PC, it might have Windows Movie Maker.

Try this. http://www.videosoftdev.com/ The free version does most things. I have used it to make videos from stills, cut videos and rejoin. You can add music and stretch it to fit a clip. I have never had the need to use all of the tools available. It only works on windows.

The program that came on your Mac or Windows computer should be able to do what you want. There are many free editing programs.

If you use a Mac, you have iMovie on it. It is a very capable video editor. I’ve used various versions of it for 20 years. It would do nearly anything you need.

Cyberlink PowerDirector, Adobe Premiere Elements and Vegas Movie Studio are the primary under $100 video editing programs. There are differences in workflow and a few features, but all three are very good. My choice is Premiere Elements.
