Be careful. My understanding is that new Macs will come with or upgrade to OS10 Yosemite. Even some of the Apple papplications like Pages and Numbers will need to be upgraded. You can do it but it all will take more fiddling around than you expect. Suggest you take your current specs for computer and software to the Apple Store and have them tell you what can migrate and what must be upgraded. They are real friendly before you buy. After you will need to buy a service or jv contract. Good luck.

Obviously you have never delt with Apple "my understanding" says as much. "They are real friendly before you buy." AND they are real friendly after you buy!!!! You do not have to buy a service contract 90 full free service comes free with the purchase.

Just call Apple Support they will talk you through it. They were voted best service company for a reason. With any new Mac the call will be free as they give customers 90 days free telephone support. Apple Care will extend that and the warranty to two years from the date of purchase, which I consider a good deal. If they can not resolve any issues you have they will get you to somebody who can.

Those were registered before I provided them to the realtor and before he signed the contract for the licensing of the photos. He is the owner of his Prudential Real Estate Office so his signature should be binding.

What was your purpose of registering your photos if not to protect yourself? Zillow is promoting their business on their site with the use of your photos by saying the house this was sold giving the impression they did everything to make it happen. That includes taking photos and displaying them on the web. Did they actually do the photography, no they did not therefore they are profiting off of your work. If you do not follow through on your notice to Zillow, registering your pictures was just a waste of your time and money. Get advice from a lawyer not from a stranger on the net. Why is advice on the internet any more valid than getting advice from a cab driver or somebody in the bar or a street person or ......?

(But if you do see a lawyer then you are getting advice from a stranger. I see a Catch 22 starting here. Sorry.)

Anyone know a device that can attach to iPhone to directly load the photos without having to use computer, iPad. Just a solitary device for backup

Yes there is, I've seen it but for the life of me I can not remember the brand name, It is an SD card (or a micro-sd card) that plugs into an adapter that plugs into the plug at the bottom of the iPad. The SD card acts like an external hard drive. I will try to get in touch with the person who showed me this device and will let you know when I know.

Sorry I was not much help yet but I just wanted you to keep your hopes alive before all the naysayers come on with their negativity.

Tried a panorama photo at Yankee Stadium with my iPhone. Incredible quality!
The great thing about the quality of the camera is that's it's always with me.

Amazing how well the iPhone performs. Nice shot.

I have an Epson Artisan 837. In my opinion, and after hearing how good Epson printers are for photo printing, have found it to be one of the worst printers I have ever owned as far as color representation even after changing settings.
I wasted more ink and paper trying to change than anyone should have to. I have been sending out my 8x10's and although more expensive, it's not that much more and if I don't like the image they will reprint at their cost.
Have the same green finish. Have not been able to get rid of it. The ink looks like it was poured on in some photos, but not all.

I was having the same issues until I took the advice of another Hog. DO NOT USE HP PAPER with Epson printers. The paper and the ink do not mix. I can use any other brand (Epson, Staples etc) and my prints are better than what local printers can give me. I use an Epson 1430 and a 545 with great success.

These were taken with the camera. The bottom picture is Sissy. She is 10 years old. She is a spoiled rotten to the core daddy's baby. This is the last picture taken. Can anyone use it to try and get a shutter count? I have tried but have not been able to get it.

If you have a Apple computer there is a great little app you can purchase for 2.99 that will give you a shutter count just by connecting your camera to your computer. It is called "Shutter Count" by Dire Studios on iTunes. Either that or just Google "Shutter Count" and you should be able to find what you want.

One thing is not mentioned anywhere in this thread...

When you receive an e-mail it is filtered. You may want to check your setting and check the junk mail log, just to see if it has not been killed...

After many years of faithful service my HP 8250 stopped working.Have researched for a replacement and have heard many people recommend Epson . Please advise me if this is a good printer as a replacement for my HP 8250 . My main photo printer is a canon Pro 9000 Mark II . The second printer would basically be a back-up … and used for documents primarily .

This is the best printer (for quality) that I have ever owned. The printouts I get are better than any commercial printer company that I have used. That said the ink is very expensive, and if you do not use the printer regularly (about once a week) the inks will dry up on you. It would be a waste to use this printer for documents only but if you did I imagine you would have some of the finest printed documents around. One word of caution, DO NOT use HP Photo Paper with this printer, HP is incompatible and the ink will smear. I almost threw my printer in the garbage when I first got it then another Hogger told me about the HP issue and it has worked fantastically ever since. I use Staples and Epson Photo paper with great success.

Hello all,
I have read in a couple of posts that these Canon EF 100-400mm have been referred to as "dust traps". I own two of these lenses and have not noticed a dust problem with either one of them. Can someone please elaborate as to what this means. Where does dust collect? And how do these lenses attract more dust than other lenses? Is it the push pull zoom? I keep my lenses covered or in there cases when not in use, however they do get used fairly often by my son and myself. Any insight as always would be greatly appreciated.

Pete

I have had my 100-400 for a few years now and it has been very well used, not a problem. I think it is only a problem for non-owners as in 'sour grapes'. I don't worry about it. When you 'push' the lens it might suck a spot of dust but when you 'pull' the lens it blows it out. Sheesh, it is basic physics. Even Dr. Seus knew that and publicized it with his "Push Me Pull You" theory  I thought everybody knew that.

Here is what works for me with my 5D3 in no specific order.

The Moon

Longest lens in my bag (100-400mm) set at 400mm
Manual focus setting
ISO 100
Set to "B" (bulb)
Set "mirror up"
High f stop (around f22 and sometimes f38, experiment)
Use remote cable release (try lots of different times, I like 1/10 sec., if using lens wide open i.e. f/4 reduce your time accordingly like 1/125 or so again experiment)
Use live view.
Use a sturdy tripod.

So far I have not tried to photograph Meteors but this works on meteorites (falling stars):

Widest lens in my bag (24-105mm set at 24mm)
Manual focus set to infinity
ISO 3200
f/4
Use "mirror up" to reduce camera sake.
20 sec (use camera timer or remote cable release).
Use "live view" not a must but it is easier for me.
Use a VERY sturdy tripod.
Point the camera straight up and hope something flies by in the 20 sec. Keep on trying until you get tired, cold or bored.

I'm sure some here on the Hog will disagree with me but like I said this works for me. I hope this helps you.

Good Luck

Sorry I guess I have shot a meteor. My friend Wiki says they are basically the same thing. I guess what I have not shot yet are Comets but I have shot a few Falcons (Ford lovers should understand this comment)
