Spotted on a morning walk today. The owner came out while I was photographing. He paid $1,800 a few years ago. Has been restoring a little at a time. Still a beauty after all these years.
Shot with a Ricoh GRiii

After looking at this photograph many times its irony finally appeared. The only stability is shown in the two people crossing the street towards a vehicle from their era. The couple and the coupe are close in age. Nothing about either is fancy, high-tech, or "cool." Yet, both keep on going their ways. Nobody can tell for certain what the other vehicles are as their identities are ever changing, dull, and born to never get old. An era only a few of us remember is what the viewer sees first. The present is in the background. The black and white effect makes this photograph the timely story it is. Like aging, restoration is a long, slow process. You took a brief fraction of a second to freeze the moment. Great story!

This 1962 Shelby Cobra, CSX 2017, is an authentic full competition Cobra built by Shelby America. It is probably the only " Riverside " model sold to an individual. Some individuals tried to take street Cobras and mimic the bonafide factory cars...this is not one of them.

It has the 289 ci engine with 48 IDM carbs, special headers with side exhaust, quick-jack pads, cross mounted radiator header tank, and other pure Shelby race mods. This car is in a private collection, never raced, and never shown before.

Nice find. Private collection etc. means an odometer in ultra low numbers. What is the black car beyond the Cobra?

Hi, David.

Is that sentence a fact? What's your take on all of that. ?

Keith Cornett in his book "Corvette Special Editions" quotes an unnamed Chevrolet engine at an impromptu press conference in Nassau, Bahamas in 1964 as follows: "You realize, of course, that you are talking to a man who isn't here."

My take on the Lightweights? Duntov was trailing Shelby and was desperate to raise the stakes. Knowing GM's feelings of anti-racing he went all-out in the only way he could, pure muscle. 6 of these cares were reportedly built yet only five were ever seen. Of those five no one knows or speaks about their fates. With names like Shelby, Penske, Thompson, and Yunick et. al. there is too much talent, too much fire, and too much bending of the rules to make any conclusion. I do however doubt we will ever see one on Bring-A-Trailer.

Went back to visit folks and family. I wish I would have taken a bit more time for photos but colors were nice for sure. Don’t look too close at that last one. Cropped in a bit for sure😉

Thow in a few shots of sand dunes and you've captured "Up North" very well. You could have cropped the last photo even more, whitetails are actually fairly small. Nice assortment and well shown. Thanx.

This car represents a historic milestone in Ferrari's ascent to the top level of sports car racing. It is a 1949 166 MM Touring Barchetta. This one is the second one made out of 24 produced. These cars were the first ones made By Ferrari after he opened shop under his own name. Ferrari's don't come with a more authentic pedigree than this one.

It was raced, successfully, from 1949 to 1957 in important races such as the Mille Miglia. It was in the famous Harrah's collection from 1967 until it closed. Since then it has been in a private collection in the north east U.S.

I first posted some shots of this car a couple of years ago. I was happy to see it again and get these shots.

Plain, simple, red, and fast. Not much more to be said for the speed and thrills of driving. Driving has become a lost art as most folks today simply aim the vehicle and mash the accelerator. FWIW, the latest issue of "Corvette" magazine has an author's latest theory about the lightweight Grand Sports and what became of them. Interesting slant on the subject. Of course the cars never existed and were campaigned by men who were never there. One of them even admitted to that.

Something not seen every day - a boat with a front-end bucket. There's a practical application for this thing because as mud and silt builds up in canals and bayous, folks' boat slips become a bit shallow- which adds wonderful stability for getting in/out of your boat, but it's a little hard on outboard motor lower units, hulls, drive shafts and rudders and, there's the inevitable day when your boat can't get into or out of its parking spot. Thus, a little Cajun engineering saves the day...

Look for this in your local John Deere stores soon!

Haven't seen a '59 El Camino in a century or two. Looks drivable, probably needs gas.

My brother is a jeweler, so I guess what he does must be called Jeweling, right?

(I posted this in the wrong section! I have asked the Admin to move it for me.)

Jewelers have an eye for details that might be of value in photography. Attention to details can give added life to composition. Thank you for the visual tour with your bro, who must be the elder of you two?

Nothing special, just a snapshot of something I've only seen once in many, many years...Amish family at the beach.

Sort of like seeing your first grade teacher in the grocery store! Everybody needs to have a laundry day. Bet they didn't walk to get there.

Photographing and documenting home interiors and valuables is a recommended task. Almost all of us have ability but how often is it done by the general public. I am wondering if there is a market for a service to take quality photographs and document the home and possessions for insurance and estate purposes. Question for the forum is has anyone done this for profit? If so, what has been their experience?

Too many amateurs in the field dilutes the market. In today's world most people have cell-phones that have cameras included. If you have a camera, you're in business for yourself. Good luck.

I heard from a friend last night that a B-1 bomber was coming to visit Buckley Space Force Base on the east side of the Denver Metro Area. This is the first time a B-1 has visit Buckley. About half a dozen photographers were out when it arrived. He came in, did an over head pass and then circled and landed. It was the first time I had seen one in flight. What an amazing looking plane!

Photo #1- As the B-1 arrived for an over head pass prior to landing.

Photo #2- As B-1 departed Buckley.

Photo #3- As he climbed out with his landing gear retracted.

It was a great way to celebrate my birthday!

You celebrated your birthday and brought us along to share the occasion. Thank you for that. Your keen eye gives us great views of an aircraft we normally do not see often. SAC keeps them away from population centers until war-planers need them to be around. Every inventory aircraft has its own story, and the planes that SAC flies have very rich histories. As big as this monster is there is very little space inside it for the crew to move around. While crew space is quite cramped the bomb bays are huge. The weapons this plane carries are essential to American security. They get all the space they require.

If you are remotely interested in motorsports, the 24-hour Rolex 24 at Daytona endurance race is a MUST for photography buffs. The event will challenge your skills with of all kinds of shots needed; cars standing still, cars passing by at 175-200mph, night shots, fireworks, close-ups, zooms, etc. After wanting to attend in person for over 25 years it exceeded my expectations.

The Rolex is Nirvana for the car enthusiasts. Sunlight, and the lack of it covers the entire race. Few participants or spectators see the entire event. The many different teams are the who's-who of racing. Parts of the cars break and have to be fabricated on the spot. Le Mans give the French a chance to catch up to the world but the Rolex sets the pace for an entire season of racing like no other series offers. I attended my first Indy 500 in 1963 and enjoyed it enough to go back 45 more times. But Daytona and Rolex offer something that possible could draw me back to attending a race again. If only it wasn't held in Florida..........

Some Hogs have asked to see shots of my companion on my dog walks. Since the loss of his sister last year, Baloney has been my reason to get out. His hips cannot support his legs for long walks as he cannot make turns well. Also, his right rear leg "knuckles" (drags) so he needs protective boots to keep from tearing the tops of his paw.

All this is solved when he puts on the Hot Wheels.

Comments and suggestions are welcome.

I applaud you sir for your very sensible and humane way you have treated your pet and companion. Baloney didn't ask and you didn't need him to do so. That is a bond that non pet lovers do not appreciate. Well done!
