Nothing special, just a snapshot of something I've only seen once in many, many years...Amish family at the beach.

I'm 77 years young and have been vacationing at the New Jersey seashore (Ventnor, Margate, Ocean City, Sea Isle City, Wildwood, Wildwood Crest) EVERY YEAR since I was an infant! This scene presented itself to me only once in all those years.

I, too, have never seen that. Not many Amish around here, though.

Sort of like seeing your first grade teacher in the grocery store! Everybody needs to have a laundry day. Bet they didn't walk to get there.

My wife and I were waiting for a seat at a Texas Roadhouse in the Minneapolis area. In front of us was a group of Amish…maybe 12-14 of them. There was one guy who appeared to be a part of the group, but who wasn’t Amish so I struck up a conversation with him. He turned out to be the Van driver for the group. I don’t know if he was a Sole Proprietorship or a driver for a company who owned the vehicles. The Amish will take a break from work and enjoy a vacation. When they do they hire a van and driver, pay for the gas and his meals and lodging. His job is to drive them to wherever they want to go and back. He told me it’s an easy job and he gets to see the country, although most of his trips, especially if kids are involved, are down the East Coast to Orlando.
