I was lucky once to meet Cole Weston at his house near Carmel. He told me that his brother Brett always claimed to have eaten Pepper No. 30. A little known fact!

Opinions wanted: torn between the two. I want the super fast autofocus. build, and button layout of the D500 with the full frame sensor of the D750.

Which did/would you choose and why?

Thanks - probably a subject that's been beaten to death.

I have both and love them but if I could only have one it would be the D500. Whatever you shoot landscape, portrait, action or low light I'd go for the D500. It is not only an action camera. 10 fps makes it an obvious action camera choice but the low noise and image quality puts it alongside the D750. Pixel peepers may claim otherwise but in real life it would be a hard choice to know which image came from which camera.

Here's a thought if all above ideas don't give you the answer. Load "Everything" onto your computer (I think it's free). This simple piece of software is designed to find lost files. Not erased files just files you cannot find. If you use the extension LR uses, or the file name, or the date then "Everything" searches all your hard drives for it. If "Everything" cannot find it then it's or they are deleted.

150,000 is about right for most Nikon DSLR cameras. For the D500 Nikon say 200,000 and the D5 I think is 250,000. Normally the shutter and mirror are replaced at the same time. I had that done on a D300 twice and each time the shutter count was less than 150,000 - from memory I believe my D300 reached into the high 130,000 range for the repairs. Also a D7000 where the shutter count was in the low 140,000's. Yes the price was around $300 for both my cameras. The sensor is not changed and would be very much more if it was. The shutter and mirror are the parts that move and wear out. After the repairs the shutter count was not reset to zero.

i have a D750 with over 150.000 counts , two days ago i noticed taking a picture a little black triangle in the low corner of the screen , technician said that i have to change the shutter and it is normal after this amount of counts , as far as i know should be normal to change the sensor and not the shutter , he said that the tent of the shutter is broken and it has to be changed , cost of the operation $300 plus taxes .
what do you think about , this does happen normally or not , thanks for you time

Actually ACDSee is NOT on a monthly payment plan. Check the purchase options.

PS CC and LR are thought.

Your right they do sell outright its just their webpage is confusing when it says "A plan for all of your personal multimedia needs - for only $6.90 per month!".

I already have Lightroom though as part of the Photoshop monthly plan that I use myself, so that is perfect.

GIMP??? Wow! That is not a simple program!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you have PS CC put her on the LR develop mode.

One of the simpler program is ACDSee the price varies depending on promotion.

ACDSee is a monthly payment plan which I don't want, but of course Lightroom. I forgot all about that. Thanks for the reminder.

Elements is not all that different from PS, and for sure will take more than 5 minutes. Why not start her out with a free program like GIMP? That way she'll get a feel for the process, without cost. Then when she's ready she can make her choice.

Thanks I'll Google GIMP now.

My girlfriend takes some amazing photographs with her cell phone and a point and shoot camera. When at my house she often tries to edit her images with Photoshop and as much as I try to help her she of course always runs into issues. Photoshop is way more horsepower than she needs or wants. I'm not being derisive in saying that, it's just she likes taking pictures but does not want to spend hours retouching them. She does enjoy some retouching but wants to spend 5 minutes on and image and not an hour or two that I might. So I thought I'd buy her some software for Christmas. The question is what. I thought about Photoshop Elements? That might eventually allow her to gravitate to the full blown Photoshop in a couple of years time if she felt inclined. I know there is free stuff out there but I want something semi serious. What say you hoggers?

This an excellent lens. I bought mine from B & H Used Dept so you might look there as well.

Hi, my name is Ren. I'm new to the site - so this topic has probably come up many times. Nevertheless, I will ask: I want to purchase a lens that is probably from the 80s or earlier. It is a Nikon 180 ED 2.8 manual focus lens to use on my still and video cameras. Here in the US, they range from $400 - over $1000 and are not listed as in excellent shape. eBay has a number of them listed as Excellent+++ but are coming from Japan. I've never bought anything from eBay but the price is a definite inducement. Has anyone had good and bad experiences buying lenses from Japan on eBay they care to share?

After spending 1 week in the Easter Sierras shooting, and hours in Lightroom removing dust spots, I got the camera professionally cleaned for $32. If you are going to clean the sensor yourself, be careful.

With my upcoming trip to Bodie and Mono Lake I became interested in shooting these time laps projects. I will be shooting with 3 Canon Rebels - Xt, Xti & T3i - 2 tri pods.
My plans are to leave my house at 7 AM get to Bodie by 11 AM and shoot till 3 PM - head over to Mono , check in to the Lake View and the shoot Mono till dark- I will probably set up two cameras- one with auto time laps at 1 every 3 sec -"M"- asa 80 - F8 - auto WB and one "M" -asa 100 - F11- WB off and click the shutter every 5 to 8 sec manually with electric/IR remote.

Getting to the South End at around 5 pm will give me plenty time to compose the sunset with the tufas as well as plan my sunrise composition.
I don't know how long I'll stay around Mono as Rain and 15 mph wind is predicted for wed with chances of snow over the passes on my way home.

Any in-put will be appreciated.

I don't know the answer to this but on time lapse should one set a fixed white balance or leave it on Auto?

If you leave the older version of PS on your computer you can just drag and drop your plugins from the old plugins folder to the new one.

No you can't. They may or may not work but that is defiantly not the way to install plugins as it can cause all sorts of problems. The safest way is a new install. However if the plugin works in Photoshop 2015.5 without you moving any files, then it is OK. This should be the last time this issue arises as Adobe have modified Photoshop so future updates will not effect plugins.
