May I cast my vote for #1 as well? I really like the effect contrasting with the uniqueness of the flower.

Number one would be my pick--no pun intended--here. Love the shot. Must be fun finding these. Nature is amazing with her variations.

Yeah Treepusher, I like number one as well. Sometimes the hikes in rough terrain takes a toll on an old man...but its still fun...

Nicely done, Mag3duces! I like to use black background for reds and pinks, especially.

Thanks Jimande, I try not to use the black all the time, but I do enjoy using it...

The Columbine is amazing. Great lighting and composition. Don't know the second, but appears to be something like bluebells. Pretty.

Nice work on both.

I took this yesterday, it was a very windy day, tried with tripod but it was blowing about. My hair kept getting blown over the lens (nowi know why so many male photographers shave their hair) it was a struggle but i shall be back there soon to try again - what can i do next time to make it better? I am happy for anyone to download and make and changes to illustrate any points made.
F10
1/60sec
50ml lens
CPL filter ( i dont know if it was the upside down, sideways or the right way up, just cannot seem to see much difference when i turn it)
thank you

Yes it is..I went to Smokey Mtns this past wk end & the wildflowers were amazing! But, even closer home they are putting on quite a show. Wildflowers are beautiful!

Do you know if the road to Cherokee is open yet, it has been closed due to a landslide? I need to get back up there, love to shoot sunrises from around Oconaluftee.
