Our next President, who has been one of the best Secretary of States in recent memory, did a GREAT job today, standing up to a childish, ludicrous, transparent, Republican partisan attack. The only thing missing at the hearing was the kangaroos. I imagine Hillary is looking forward to Kerry's confirmation so she won't have to deal with these morons anymore.

The ONLY reason the Republicans are charged up about Benghazi (note correct spelling) is they know Hillary is going to be hard to beat in 4 years and they need to grasp at straws to try to make her look bad. Remember when some of the right wing talking heads even claimed she was faking her concussion to get out of having to testify? I'll take Republican complaints about Benghazi seriously when I see Republicans criticize Bush for the 9-11 attack and for invading Iraq under false pretenses.

I believe the Republicans are "charged up" as you say because we have gotten nothing but lies about this incident.

If no one else will ask I need to know; " criticize Bush for the 9-11 attack ", what exactly does that mean?

Thank you for asking, now I don't have to. But, I doubt that you will get an answer.

I am currently using Vista on my computer. I know a lot of people don't like Vista and I have heard a lot of complaints about problems with it, but I (knock on wood) have had great luck with it. I just saw where I can upgrade to Windows 8 for 39.99 and am wondering your thoughts on this? Has anyone been using that? thanks for any info

I am in the line with everyone who said "Don't Do It". I have windows 8 on a laptop and do not like it. I am using windows 7 on my desk and wish I still had Vista on my other laptop.

The wisdom and ability of the governor of Texas was amply displayed in the debates. What is that fourth agency?

I don't know why you say the states have to enforce Federal law. When Gov. Brewer tried it, DOJ suied her state. Oh you mean only the laws you like, like the ones that violate the 2nd and 10th amendments.

whenever I see posts like the initial one I ask myself has this jerk ever shot at anyone or had anyone shoot at him? I sorta know the answer because one who has experienced an actual gun fight seldom advocates using a gun for anything other than target practice and sport.

Well, old sarg, I can't speek for the original poster but I have been on both accounts, I have shot at and been shot at, and I do have the scars to prove it. I do advocate using a gun for defense of loved ones, innocents and self. I have given all of my children guns and advocate that they keep their carry-permits and loaded gun on themselves at all times including in church. God is no respector of persons and lets anyone into His House, even those who kill people. I am so tired of people who say or insinuate that they know what is best for all people and that the Constitution doesn't really mean what it says.

In the 80's here in the USA we started the "deinstitutionalization process" which was as you say "an attempt to save money" The homeless population jumped because the families had no way to care for their family members who had problems. The government's answer was and is to medicate them. Now the institutions have been torn down and there are thousands of people who have no real care and society is paying the price. However, society in general, bought into the inhumanity of people being institutionalized where they could be protected and keep society safe so society shares the responsibility to thinking with emotions instead of knowledge.

You're exactly right... we were told that that sort of care should be left up to Churches, Charities, and Families... only thing is that Churches, Charities, and Families could only shoulder just so much of that financial responsibility.
quote=workhorse quote=Wellhiem We have our fair ... (show quote)

It isn't the financial responsibility that is or was the major problem. They do not have the knowledge and/or expertiese to deal with accute mental illness. If you confine your adult relative in your home to protect him/her from his/her self and the community at large, the authorities would lock you up for abuse and your relative would be on the streets creating problems for the whole community. The idea of confinement for safety reasons is not politically correct in todays society so I just protect my family myself; take them to the gun range and teach them to be aware of their surroundings at all times and children are never unsupervised.

If you get sidetracked on the way, make it to Tennessee and you will be safe. We have already submitted legislation to make it illegal to attempt to inforce any of Obamas 19 Executive orders restricting gun ownership and use.

Recently, while I was working in the flower beds in the front
garden, my neighbors stopped to chat as they returned home from walking their dog. During our friendly conversation, I asked their 12 year old daughter what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be a Senator one day.

Both of her parents – Democrat voters — were standing there, so I asked her: "If you were a Senator what would be the first thing you would do?" She replied, "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people." Her parents beamed with pride! "Wow, what a worthy goal!" I said.

"But you don't have to wait until you're a Senator to do that!"
I told her. "What do you mean?" she replied.

So I told her: "You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, trim my hedge and I'll pay you $50. Then you can go down to the Mall, find a homeless man and can give him the $50 to buy food."

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless man come over and do the work and you can just pay him the $50?"

I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party."

Her parents aren't speaking to me any more.

What pisses off this liberal is idiot conservatives that are stupid enough to believe that all liberals favor gun control and the all conservatives oppose gun control.

I never said ALL liberals are in the same wagon and favor gun control. Once again I stumble across someone of limited intelligence who jumps to conclusions without reading the post correctly. Just scan the sentence or paragraph and jump in without any thought process. Do you know anyone in Antarctica? It's the only continent I have left on my list of people to piss off. I'm soooo close to my goal.

Don't mean to get off subject but now I know why I feel so ignorant and intimidated on here. Most of you are my age but have been playing with photography for 50+ years. I bought a little Nikon D40x and 2 lenses in 2008 for a trip back to Alaska. 12 days and 1500 pictures later I knew very little about photography. I am a great (not just good) carpenter but have made sawdust all my life when not in school. No time for hobbies when raising a family and making a living. Now I still enjoy the Nikon and will actually take some classes to learn how to use it. Never expect to make any money at it...there are too many really great photographers out there. I will content my self with bending wood and making bookcases for money.

SEX at 82. This will brighten up your day. Geo H

I just took a leaflet out of my mailbox,
informing me that I can have sex at 82.
I'm so happy, because I live at number 72.
So it's not too far to walk home afterwards.
And it's the same side of the street.
I don't even have to cross the road!

You left out the street name. Now what will I do?

Just try each # 82. One might work.
