today I test mapmytrack for ios, it is free and it can sync to the data to their web, from there I export the gpx to my mac and load to the LR6 nice and simple, then use auto tag to get all the photos in the map. look good to me.
I have to test if I use this for whole day is that ok or not.
thanks for all the support

I have the nikon 5100, and the iphone 4s, I know a lot of people are using some app to make it easy to capture the gps data by using the iphone and sync it with the photos meta data to use on Lightroom 6.
I try to find something that do not take too much power from the iphone, I don't need it to track every minute, something that update every 15 to 30 min is good enough.
I am planning for a trip to Europe, if I have a nice app with that will be more fun when I donwload the photos and view them again. Simple, easy and free is the best (I hope:)
thanks.

The threads on the filter were not damaged, so it doesn't seem likely that threads on the lens would have been damaged if there had not been a filter there. By the same token it is almost certainly true that if the filter threads get damaged by impact it will also damage the lens threads. IOW, there is virtually no protection at all offered to the lens threads.

If folks want to see the results of some very good tests, check out a video by UHH member Steve Perry. Steve does a lot of very good videos, and this particular one is excellent.

He has been quoted elsewhere as saying

“Based on what I’ve seen in these tests, I really believe that
the vast majority of people who have broken UV filters have
simply broken their UV filters and really didn’t save their lens
at all. I believe that in most cases, the filter didn’t do anything
to save their lens from cracking or breakage — the UV filter
simply broke because they’re much more prone to breakage
than the lens itself is.”
The threads on the filter were not damaged, so it ... (show quote)

for the osx photos app content, i find that just copy the photos library that is in the user/pictures folder to the new drive smae location and then change the preference when the photos app open is the way to do for the photos
but let the lightrooms to find all the photos to image I don't find the best way yet.
btw i have lr6
if you have any suggestion please keep me post
thanks.

Also remember, Lightroom only point to where the pictures are stored unless during import you also want to make a copy (you have to specify where to be copied). In the future if you want to move files (picture), do it inside the Lightroom operation. Otherwise Lightroom will not be able to find them.

now that i know it is there, should i just say import with the copy option so that all the photos will import to the hard drive.

second thinking,
I might use lightroom in future, it is more easy to manage in long run, is there a way that all this photos from photos library can be import in a way that I can see them in folders?

THRaleigh wrote:
The old library is under your hard drive then go to
"users"
"your user name"
"pictures"
Then old one is "IPHOTO library"
New System is "photos library"

Put your camera on a really solid tripod. Focus the way you normally focus - then do the same, but this time focus using LiveView. If there is a difference, then the lens and camera are not optimized, and you might want to consider fine tuning the lens to the camera if your camera can do this. If the LiveView focus is soft, then there is a problem with the lens - and sending it to Sigma will be your next step.

I know what you mean, I did check those already.
I will do what you suggest and I have large format printer that I am going to print a 1 pt line target about 3x3' to shoot indoor and outdoor on tripod to test it thru.
thanks.

I have the sigma 18-250 zoom for 3 yrs.
I just shoot 100+ of photos over the last few days and find a lot of them are off focus, I have to use lightroom sharping to the max to get them look better.
I would like to know how to check and confirm if there is error, I know my lens still has warrenty, but I want to know at least a way to confirm my finding first.
thanks.
