Better chance of ID if this was posted in Photo Gallery instead of Main Discussion.

Thanks for the advice. I think the 810 will be my choice as the cost of the 850 plus the lenses would go far above my budget. Sincerely, Bruce

Good choice. Lenses for the D810 and D850 would be the same, but after paying $500 more for the D850, to get full usage, you also need the the MB-D18 grip, battery and charger for 'bout $900, several hundred for some 64GB XQD Class M cards, and an sb-5000 flash for $600. It quickly becomes a $5K setup.

Put the subject close to the background and use a small f-stop (large number).

I understand what you're saying. I want a shot of a city skyline and it's reflection in the river both in focus. Should I move the river?

In DX mode the D850 covers the same area as the D500 with approximately the same number of pixels.

I really hadn't thought about that. Wanna buy a D500?

Never mind. Looks like I'm trying to link to a gif that has been removed.

Like, I shouldn't volunteer to show how great the camera is for colonoscopies?

Thought it was for pictures period. Have seen others that have posted a pic there they said they didn't shoot. If your right it was a mistake on my part but I didn't know.

Click on Photo Gallery. Click on Section Rules. Read first sentence.

This is a pet peeve of mine which I will occasionally mention.

BTW, that's a unique and beautiful bird.

Then why are you posting in Gallery, which is for posting pictures you took?

I don't understand some of this, but it's his cave, his rules.
I agree with Orrie, there are multi-million candle power handheld lights, but that might be overkill.
My favorite is a 1200 lumen three-LED fixed focus bicycle light. Newer models have adjustable beam width.
These can be found for under $50.
