This is how governments work. I'm not disputing that. What I am saying is that the hotel owner never deposited the hundred in his account. He still does not have the hookers payment. It doesn't matter the cause of the lost hundred. It's not in his possession. Yes, as far as the hooker is concerned the debt is paid. But the payment never made it to the bank. When the auditor does the books the hotel owner comes up $100.00 short.

This is a perfect example of what money is. That paper has no value. It is a promise of value. It lets different transactions take place without bartering.
And you are another good example of someone who argues loudest and longest is often wrong.

Simple acrual based accounting. Each person had an account payable and an account receivable. All offset each other.

I have both. Comparing them is more than simple pixel size. The D850 has a back side illuminated sensor. It definitely has much more manageable noise at higher ISOs. That's a big deal for wildlife photography.
Plus, often I can fill the FX frame so it can take advantage of that.
The D500 has fast focussing advantage. Its usually not a big deal, but last winter in Belize I was shooting hummingbirds and the keeper rate was much higher with the D500.
I like both cameras but the D850 can do it all.

Great set Tom. I too had the fortune to have Chris guide me in July of 2018. What a great guy and super skilled outdoorsman. He's among the best of registered Maine Guides.
Your skills and his produced some fine results.
Btw, did the chicks hatch late this year? Im surprised they arent bigger by August.

I take it you aren't really serious. If you were, you would have done some basic research and would know they both have advantages and limitations.
Then, when you asked a question here you would know to qualify it with some information about your physical shape, type of shooting and how you feel your D850 is limiting you.

DPReview is a website catering more to gearheads. Diifferent forums for every brand and type. Good place to get technical answers and reviews. But discussions often devolve into "Ford vs. Chevy" type fanboy type drivel.
Very few sections showing actual photos.

This question doesn't just raise the old RAW vs JPEG debate but also echoes back to the "is RAW an image file" issue extensively discussed here recently.

What are we really comparing here? The JPEG is a product of your camera pictorial settings plus any post-processing done to it. The RAW file has to be processed by RAW converter software to be viewable and is usually further manipulated to suit the image creator. So what would be a valid comparison in terms of "better"?

You can't really compare two "identical" photos, one JPEG, one RAW. You are comparing products from two different processes for converting the sensor data into a viewable image. Your attempt at comparing RAW to JPEG is really an attempt at a comparison of processing algorithms and human processing skills.

Only you can answer your question. Shoot your JPEG with the "best" pictorial settings and post-processing you can come up with; then shoot the same scene with RAW and jump into your converter/post-processing software and see if you can coax a "better" image out of the RAW data than you could with the JPEG approach....
This question doesn't just raise the old RAW vs JP... (show quote)

Finally the right answer and a good explanation.

Very nice, both the Lilly and your technique. If I might ask, how did you light it? I have a friend who breeds daylillies and takes lots of photos, but none like yours. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, if I’m counting right he’s an 8 x 9. If you count the one that’s broke off. Wonder how he’d score?

Gives new meaning to the term creamy yellow. Very well done. Perfect depth of field. Did you focus stack?

Hey Katherine, looks like you had a fine time. Who'd you go with? A good friend of mine went around May 7. He thought that was a little early due to most trails being closed.
Ill be out of touch for a while. In Oslo, flying north to chase polar bears tomorrow.
