In the almost 4 years I’ve been a member of this forum I’ve come to realize most members seem to be “mature” individuals (over 60). In addition virtually all of the people in my camera club are over 60. Now I realize these groups certainly dont reflect the entire photographic world. However It does bring a question to mind. Is it possible that younger people are not as interested in becoming “photographers”, professional or recreational as we are?
Virtually every person walks around with a smart phone in his/her pocket. Not only does a smart phone contain a camera, but that camera has rapidly become almost as good as any DSLR. I have a feeling that for most people popping a smart phone out of their pocket to take a picture is much preferred to carrying 20 pounds of camera equipment around. There’ll always be a certain portion of the population that is old school and feels you need a good DSLR, lenses, tripod etc. to take good pictures. As the years go by that group will become smaller and smaller.
So in my mind the real question is not where will new photography equipment come from but where will new photographers come from?
Does this make any sense or am I all wet .

Guessing that we will be replaced by other 60+ year olds eventually.
Welcome Rc62> Hope you enjoy the site as much as we do.
Politics and finger pointing aside for the moment - most, if not all manufacturers have moved to a JIT process which in reality all but eliminates what used to be considered inventory. Sellers have little interest in guessing what will sell and what will not, preferring instead to order just enough to fill the shelves with minimal (if any) product backup. Just one more step in keeping profits as the main goal ahead of customer convenience. This also led to the price over quality IMO. Blame who you like, but the main culprit in this environment is the American consumer. I think the rise in rain checks and dollar stores help confirm my opinion?
Typical. We allow products on the shelf then warn us not to use them. Thinking the FDA is one notch above being totally worthless. They are the ones that should be defunded IMO.

It's not nonsense. Even as a child I wondered about Aunt Jemima and how this made African Americans feel. All these little things add up to the weight that breaks the backs of a people.
I suppose the same way Caucasians may wonder about Little Debbie and Colonel Sanders?
Just a guess, same as yours.
Doesn't matter what you use, the 5D's are indestructible. I use a yard blower to clean the dust off. Pressure washer works better for cleaning.

Does anyone else watch Space Force on Netflix? I think it is the best thing on TV right now. Check it out.
Found it to be mostly dull and boring with a couple of spots of mediocre humor. I could not get through the entire first episode. Dumped it after watching less than 1/2 hour.
Just numbers. Doesn't mean a rip if the image is unusable regardless of brand or model.
Great job. Your effort has yielded a wonderful result.
Tokina 100 or the Tamron 90. Both have good reviews.
