Not my best work-but I can't be objective. I know how much I love this spot on the Virginia Creeper Trail, and I know how much mud I accumulated on my hiking boots trying to get this photo.

Black and White for framing and mood. Isn’t it amazing the variety of opinions? I’m glad you posted

Film is still popular. I use film and follow other users via Face Book etc. I do not have darkroom capability so I use mostly online labs. Seems film use is very popular in Europe. If you decide to not use film you can send me your Hasselblad. Medium format is amazing! You can buy film online and there is an amazing variety of film available. I do have a Camera store sort of near me but is downtown area 25 miles from me. It seems to cost me a lot because I keep coming home with a used camera.

Can I ask what online lab you suggest. I want very inexpensive. We found 2 old rolls of film in a couple of AE-1 Canons that I had stashed away. I have a feeling these rolls are not something I shot but just in case they are my family wants me to get it developed.

The only people shooting film in 2021 are fossils, the idle rich and hipsters from Brooklyn.

(And several UHH community members.)

Welcome aboard!

Are you shooting with the collodion process or are you old fogies still using daguerreotype (no one will ever look at those.)

My walk about kit starts out with my 100, 16-35, 150-600 and then I’m flat out - and my poor husband becomes my pack mule while I dream up floating helium filled camera bags (Shark Tank winner for sure)

I took these photos recently.

Love these ! I wish I could get Ruby and Sunflower (yes-mine have names) to settle on my zinnias instead of the ugly power lines or feeders with bad backgrounds.

Pretty shot of a nasty guy. These guys completely cover my milkweed at times.

Canon 5D Mark III

Third+ time through the owners manual and field guide and still so much to learn (even though I've used Canons my whole (long) adult life.)

I am obsessed with warblers but there are times owls or eagles start swooping nearby. I see in the manual that Autofocus menu option case 5 is recommended for BIF.

I was wondering if any of you use this option. Or something else.
Or perhaps I should just set up a custom option (more reading the manual :)

Not that it may matter but I am shooting with a 70-200 mm Canon 1:2.8 L IS II with a Canon EF 2X III extender (until someone gifts me with something better! Mother's Day is coming and I have enough hanging baskets ;)

I sort of hate to say it but perhaps offer them the photo and direct them to a picture frame website. Just an idea.

I have a Logan Simplex 760. Main problem is it is huge. Get one of the smaller ones because setting up requires a lot of space for mine.

It is tricky at first to cut bevels cleanly. Logan has a great book on cutting mats.

Finally, if you are using standard cuts (the mats that are readily available for order - 8X10 window in 11X14 mat for example), you can get them cheaper on line. I order "Redi Packs" from RediMat in California and even with exorbitant shipping from there to Connecticut, I get them at about half the price I can locally or making them from large mats that I cut. I would love to shop locally, but you can't charge double for something and expect people to buy it when they can get it so much cheaper elsewhere!

That's what the space under the couch is for!! I put my Logan Elite on a rug, and slide it under. When my kids get this house they better search everywhere for my treasures :)
I have a hard time storing the great mat board I found for 90% off at Hobby Lobby. It's too big to hide under the couch, or even behind it, and it wants to bend. Not to mention all of the great frames I found at Goodwill... So my spare bedroom is now my framing room. No one stays here anyway... Now I just need to add some walls down the middle of my rooms to hang up my great photos since the photo contests are on hold.

You must be new here :-). A thread may start out with something like "JPEG vs TIFF, which should I use?" If you skip to page 8 of the responses, you will find the answer to whether to use salt or toothpaste when you brush your teeth ... AND the discussion will be quite heated! :-)

Oh my gosh I can't stop laughing!!!!

I am also preparing photos for a photo contest and losing my mind. I have self-adhesive mat board and the mat doesn't stick. So then I am double sided taping, and gluing. And still there are places it's not very stuck. I was thinking of asking you all the same question!
