My daughter is preparing a group photo as part of a retirement gift for one of her retiring workers. Problem is that 2 were in DC on temporary duty. They sent individual photos to be added. I need to composite these two into the group. I have already extracted them from their backgrounds. The problem is the group is standing behind a conference table, while my composite has the 2 standing in front of the tables. Is it possible to bring the group (the background) photo, to the forefront, and the two to stand in the back row?

I use a Slik Mini-Pro. Adjust the legs so it fits on your chest, breath like pulling the trigger on a gun and you have a very stable camera platform. Google for their sight to see how this is done. Outstanding tripod.

Speaking as a retired Baptist pastor, if I had taken that picture, it would be hanging on my wall. Just for fun why not try rasterbator.com and see what it looks like as a 20x30 poster (or larger if you desire), it takes 8 sheets of 81/2 by 11" paper pieced together. I've done quite a few for friends and family.

Sorry hit the wrong key too quickly. The set of photos are very good. It is really interesting to see the progress made in Korea. The people were very nice to us, and unlike Warrior I actually enjoyed my time in Korea. My hat off to Warrior for his service, 1950 was a bad time in Korea, that "forgotten war" was more difficult than many realize. Thank you Warrior.

Hate to be picky, but when I was stationed in Korea in 1963 it was called "The Land of the Morning Calm"

Utah is a photo wonderland. This is a fantastic set, I (personal preference, not a professional critique) really like #2.

John Denver (Dutchendorph his real name) is from Oklahoma, I knew his uncle and cousins well.

I bought it,and it is very good, problem is, I paid $9.95 on special, now it is $97.00. I am signed up to get his e-mails and it was when he had 9 of his programs on sale for $9.95, which I have seen 2 or 3 times since I bought it, So, it would be worth signing up for his e-mails in order to get his specials.

I'm sorry, I made a mistake, he has two programs one on retouching and one on restoration -- the restoration is $97.00 which I got for $39.95 on sale, the retouching one was $9.00 on special. Both are outstanding tutrorials.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully you won't mind answering one more question. The files are around 4 megs. My D-in-law had requested files that could print 20x24. Is a 4 meg. file from a Canon 6D capable of a quality print at this size?

I almost hesitate to post this (incoming fire!) I use Photo Zoom Classic and get very good results for large and extra large photos, 20x24 should be a snap.

WOW! I was stationed near Seoul, Korea in 1946-47 and there was absolutely nothing close to this at that time.

I was stationed there in 64-65, and it was nowhere near that modern.

The biggest problem was that the scanner would only "see" a 35mm sized portion of the 3.3" x 5.5" negative.

I think "Old Sarge" had the best (easiest) solution: "I now put the negs in a clear plastic holder and tape it to a window with parchment paper between the neg and glass and shoot with my Canon SX40". Now out here in 'rural MD", I just have to find some parchment paper to give it a try.

Any grocery store usually has parchment paper. The difficulty may be in finding glassine envelopes or good clear packets to hold the negative.

Sarge,

That's a great idea . Do you set the camera for a 1:1 ratio to match the 35mm or doesn't it matter since you are doing the rest of the processing digitally?

I have tried 1:1 but I like 4:3, but it really doesn't matter, my reason for 4:3 is that is the way I shoot and I don't have to worry about resetting it when I'm done.

I had 4X5 and 5X7 negatives and my old scanner would do 4X5's but died. I now put the negs in a clear plastic holder and tape it to a window with parchment paper between the neg and glass and shoot with my Canon SX40

The Graflex I used in 1953-54 (in Rochester NY) was a single lens reflex, is that what you have? I also had a Speed Graphic 4X5. The Graflex was a cumbersome camera but did a great job.
