My 8 year old granddaughter Ellie loves everything about photography. After recently purchasing a mint condition "Storm Trooper" Pentax camera for her from Dewey, we went to the local park to let her try it out. I think she did a pretty good job, but then again I'm a proud PapPop. Attaching one of her pictures, as well as an iPhone snap of her from yesterday.

Great story - watching the passion children have for something like photography where there is so much to learn is fun to watch. It also speaks highly of her family. I have the same camera- great choice. Enjoy!! Thanks for sharing.

Nice location, but the lighting is a bit uneven. Did you shoot these in mid day conditions or were there just got spots? Looks like an interesting place to shoot.

The lighting was difficult for my skill level to be sure. Bright sunlight on part of the falls or the foreground. Shooting from bright sunlight into shade and vice versa. The first two of Chagrin Falls were shot around 11AM and the third pic - around Noon. Not the ideal conditions. These had minimal PP - just some contrast and slight sharpening. If my PP skills were more advanced - I could shoot some of these scenes with a little more confidence - still learning.

Thanks for the comments - great location - I hope to go back when the leaves change.....

I was fortunate enough to visit Chagrin Falls OH on Saturday and the Great Falls of Tinker's Creek just a short distance away. Here are a few of my favorites - Thanks for viewing -comments welcome.

The formula for good photos (for me) is to take LOTS of photos, then delete the ones that don't strike your fancy. Often times you can capture some great action shots just by taking LOTS of photos! It's part skill and part luck. Wayne Gretsky once said "you miss 100% of the shots you don't take". Of course he was speaking of ice hockey but the same saying works with photography.
I shot over 1500 photos of the contest. I have easily deleted 3/4 to half of them. A pro photographer friend of mine once told me that after a photo shoot, the first thing you need to do is delete any poor or average photos. That way you don't have to waste your time on them and not take up valuable space wherever you store those photos. You will also know that you will only keep the "keepers" and know that you only save the good ones that you can be proud of. I have been on some photo shoots where I came back to my computer and realized that I had to delete every shot.
From the 1500 photos I took, I have lots of what I consider good shots. I'm attaching a few more from my previous two submissions to UHH. Here are the links to the other two:

Brent - these are incredible as always - I always enjoy your posts. I also use the volume method when taking action shots (if possible) - I find that I like about 20% of the shots I take - I love about 5%. I try to delete the obvious ones at download - but still tend to save too many. I have found these percentages fairly steady over the years - My criteria has also changed as I feel my 20% today is much better than my 20% 4 years ago. What do you think your percentage of keepers to be? Just curious. Thanks for sharing - again always look forward to your posts. The image quality is outstanding.

Very nice! Good to see something different than a typical show with cars jammed together with their hoods open & folks milling around. This must have been the famed Woodward Cruise.

Yes - the famed Woodward Dream Cruise - really a spectacular event. The first few shots were taken on Tuesday before the Cruise (Saturday) - not much traffic it allows me to isolate the "classic" cars. The next few were taken Friday night- the north bound side of Woodward was bumper to bumper which impacts the background of these shots. I have been going to the same spot for 10-12 years - I haven't been to the actual Cruise on Saturday in many years - I too like the cars in motion - as opposed to sitting in a lot. Some beautiful cars either way tho!!! Thanks for looking and commenting!!
