2 days before Christmas, the 23rd and my mother would just tell me to go pick one of the presents under the tree with my name on it for my birthday. I got a homemade cake, a homemade card and a birthday song. But as you say, I couldn’t complain. There were some of my friends at school who got next to zip at Christmas. Life was good, but money was tight.
Agree. And life was simpler then. Had a good time growing up without having a lot of money.
Grew up 7 miles from the border, but things were a lot quieter then. I think growing up then taught us a lot about living a life of being able to accept things as they came and make life work well. Oops; kinda of got philosophical there. Anyway; I always think “we didn’t get rich in money, but we got rich in experiences”.
