Thanks for the film question. Especially b&w. It shows there are still some of us film users. And, I agree with TMAX. Never tried Ilford. I think I will.
I hate seeing an eagle in a cage.
I flew with one in the over head compartment from Chicago to LA, to two different Hawaii destinations. Then back from Hawaii to LA where a TSA agent must have thought I looked like a terrorist and made me check it. You just never know.
In spite of your feelings against the Democratic Party, which of course is not the same now as it was then, it is hard to be a Republican when they are so fractured, so split. If you Republicans want to win a national election, you better spend more time cleaning up your own act than finding fault with the Democrats.
Chalk one up for film, especially Kodachrome! I wonder what digital images will look in 70 years. Can we archive them as successfully? Just asking.
Our 50 year old son said he envies us---high school and marriage in the 50's, stay at home mom with him and his three siblings. This is more than nostalgia. It really was the best of times. And now, 50+ years later, it is still great because of the values with which we grew up.
A few days ago I asked for observations on a problem. I found my digital slr too daunting and was thinking about returning to film.
Well, you uhh members overwhelmed me. A very, very high percentage of you really gave me great advise and perspectives, delivered in pleasant and helpful terms. Sometimes you were very funny. And, there are more film fans than I expected. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Just a few of you did a lot of writing to prove how clever you are. Only one person was downright rude.
I also learned that a lot of you are older, like me.
I have made an imaging capturing decision, largely because of your input. I won't bother you with that decision. That's not important. What is important is how uhhs rally to be helpful. Again, thank you. And, now, I have to go order some film!
The Green Bay Packers home field is sometimes known as the frozen tundra. We are 85 miles north of Green Bay. So far this winter, the lowest night temperature was -19. The high for that day was -7. BUT, we love it. We live in the woods on a lake. Our nearest neighbor on one side is 1/2 mile away and 1 1/2 miles on the other side. The last two miles to our house is a gravel road. A few great picture taking possibilities.
I'm not really looking for people to dissuade me, but after having to spend so much time with my digital slr to take a picture because of its vast array of features, I think I'm going back to my Nikon f5. In Program with my Nikon I never had a bad exposure, and when I wanted to depart from Program it was so easy to change metering, f stop and shutter speed. And that was it. Instant gratification is not that important to me. Well, maybe I do want to see if I can be dissuaded. I live in the woods on a lake and that's where I do most of my photography. And, I have all the time I need. Observations please.
Wow! There was a bird at our feeder this morning that we could not identify. Guess what? After seeing this posting, we have identified it as the common redpoll. And, we didn't have it on our life list. Thank you.
The first time I heard this, it took place in Minnesota. If it isn't a true story, it should be. And probably is by now.
It's easy to spell Checkoslavaciya.
Judy, I have been a member of many different groups outside of photography, but I have never known any groups or hobbiests or professionals so ready to help others as photographers. Even the most professional professionals are willing to assist and advise we amateurs. The Internet and sites like this are wonderful.
You bring tears to my eyes. I bought a new E510 with two kit lenses several years ago. I bought it because of a history and love affair with om1n's and om2n's. I couldn't make the transition from film to digital, so sold my E510. I have since tried other digital slr's and found them lacking. I wish I had my E510 back. After reading all the wonderful replies to your posting, I am going to buy another Olympus digital slr, but this time I will give it it's due. Thanks
