It is soooo nice to see voices from the left come out of the shadows. This country is going to the dogs and it's being sent the by the fear-mongering on the right. We are losing our soul as a country, losing the humanity that I think separated us from the rest of the world, and it's being destroyed by the ultra rigidity of the Tea Party and the mad rush to the ultra ultra right by even moderate members of the Republican establishment. I truly fear for the future of the country if Republicans win control of the Senate or the White House.

Hal, you are so right... but you forgot to mention how our wonderful Senator Kerry contributed and protested against our fighting men back then. I'm not a big fan of spiders, either. They are too fast and too hard to kill. A spider bite can be nasty - just ask Sarge. If I see them outside, no problem. It's when they're crawling around inside my house that I get concerned. They can be so big!



now that is funny.
One night I was sitting in my chair watching TV. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a large black spider, right next to me. It might have been able to fit on a half dollar - maybe. I grabbed a magazine and knocked it to the floor. It looked uninjured, so I kept hitting it. Eventually, I realized it was one of those plastic Halloween spiders.

The story is:

I HATE SPIDERS - REALLY HATE THEM - I was bitten by one in Viet Nam and years later the medics pulled a poison sac out of my neck where I was bitten that was almost 1/8th of an inch in diameter and 1/2 inch deep in my neck. Looked like a ragged piece of spagetti.

If I get a chance to take a picture of one it will be with a can of deadly poison in my left hand with the camera in the right. If the spider even so much as blinks an eye ( any of them ) in my direction - PSSSSSSST the poison flys.

Did I mention I HATE SPIDERS ?
