Hi guys,
While I was at work this morning I was going over a 1967
Viet Nam year book , which my daughter and son-inlaw
gave me for my birthday. While looking through the book
I started to recall many of my friends who lost their lives
while serving this great country and a tear came to my eyes.
I would like to send this out to all and every family who had
a love one who either lost their life or limb and who served
in Viet Nam. I can't recall the names of all the guys I SERVED
with, but what I can't forget is their faces. I would I to tell
each and every family that it was a HORNOR for me to have
known these men but even a BIGGER HORNOR to have
served with them more.
I had a very good friend , I can only recall his first name
James, we tried not to make many friends in Nam, being
we weren't sure which day may have been our last.
James ambition in life was to be an artist when he returned
home. Well he never had it back home other then in a plastic
bag. He was killed by a claymoore mine.
I always wanted to find James's family and tell them what
a loving and careing person James was and how I had the
Hornor of serving with him. So may-be buy some chance
with this posting I may have the HONOR of reaching James
family. If by the grace of God I didn't at lease I could tell the
rest of the families what an HONOR it was to have served
with their family member. MAY GOD BLESS AMERICA

I'm sure there are many stories of Nam to be told, mine included and I'm thankful for those memories, but hope I don't have to relive them.
Thank you for your service and thank all those, who are serving and have served.

What a touching story Larryr!! Yes there are many great stories out there that will never be told ….and stories that still haunt the men and woman who were there fighting and taking care of the wounded!
All who went and fought, who lost their lives or who came back a changed person gave the ultimate gift to the world …you gave us the freedom to live the lives we live today!
THANK YOU ALL who fought for our countries….it is just sad to still have to have our men and woman still fighting wars in this day and age!!
GOD BLESS each and everyone of you!! You are all heroes in my book!!!

Please believe me my intension wasn't to reopen old
war wounds. We all suffered enought, I only printed
what came to mind and I'm sure there are many other
stories which are left untold. But I spoke from the
heart and if I caused any grief I ask your forgivness.

You didn't open old war wounds. What we had to do was done. Memories are memories. I'm proud of what miniscule part I had to play! And I'm proud of what was done by all and is still being done by those who serve!

James was from New York, his wife wanted to upen
up an art galary in his name.I wish I could recall
his last name, I do know for a fact that he did
sent many of his drawing back home to his wife and son.
We were in Com.A 2nd Bat. 18th. Inf. at the time,This was
back in 1967. It seems like the more I speak of these guys the more I miss them, it seems memmoies seems to fade away aftera while but old friends never do.
DO THEY?

Memories do fade, the details get blurry, but they are still there.

Well said LARRYR. I often think of some of the friends I made there, Jan. 6th 1968 thru January 8th 1969. I have found one and spoke to him, it was like we were never apart. Some of the other one's I can't find and suspect they were not as lucky as myself. I think of them occasionally, and what brings them to my conscience mind I don't know, but I miss them. I would love to see them all again young and healthy like I knew them.

Thanks to all who served and are serving now. Bless you all and welcome home.

Hi guys, br While I was at work this morning I was... (show quote)

What unit did you serve with? From the looks of your images you were in the southern part of the country.... I have been able to contact two families that lost a son who served with my unit... the thing i found odd was that the army only told them that their son was KIA and the knew nothing of the guys he served with... do you know his last name? if you were the 6/31 i know who has a lot of names from several years... i served with the 4/31st were were in I Core... also if you try the Guest Books from your unit or regiment you might get lucky.... thank for your service and welcome home... those hooch's made out two poncho's bring back a lot of memories... Keep Smiling

Sorry to be a pain with all the emails but i did find a roster of everyone who was KIA with the date they were born and the date they were KIA also home town, state and of course name. there aren't that many James's the list is a little long but i'm sure it will help you find his last name.... then you can go to the Vetual wall and some time there is a post by a parent, or cousin with an email address....

Hi loguey, good morning
I can tell you one thing if you are a pain I shore
could use more of you.thankyou so much for the info.
I've rattleing my brains trying to recall James last
name that I'm starting to come up with all sorts
of names. My mind is like a old worn out computer
with a floppy disc for a memory. all I can remember
was that we were all over Viet Nam we really didn't
long in any one spot. I do remember a fire fight we
did around Chanh Luu back in Jan.6,1968.
I was with the 1ST Inf, 2nd Bat. 18 Div. Company A
Other then that all I recall is wanting to get the
heck out of there.Again THANKS for all your help and
if I come up with any other info. I'd be more than
glad to post it.
THANKS guys for being there even if your heart was in
it, you didn't run, in stead your HONOR prevailed
and YOU all deserve to be thank. SO HERE IS A THANK
YOU TO ALL WHO SERVED.
