My first visit to Krakow has been very interesting and challenging photographically. Initially, it was cloudy and rainy the first few days but now it's sunny and the streets are lined with many different "faces." I tried to capture the essence of the culture by photographing their faces as they play or walk the street. In my opinion, black & white photography captures the intensity and meaning of the photograph. Please download for best results. I welcome your comments. (By the way, these were shot with either the NIKON D5 or D850, NIKKOR 70-200mm 2.8 AF-S or the NIKKOR 14-24mm 4.0. ISO varied btw 200-400)

Beautiful work. You have really captured the spirit of the moment in those images.

And I'm imaging these in Los Angeles where semis roll over on a regular basis! And foul up the traffic for miles and miles and hours and hours. Different roads over there.

I can not comment on the comparison of roads - Australia versus USA - but some of the roads that these road trains operate over in Australia are unsealed, even the sealed roads are a very very long way from ideal for cars let alone heavy vehicles.

I can only imagine what it must be like to control all that cargo in less than ideal conditions, especially liquids. I've never seen anything like that before. Wow.

Thank you for looking pumakat.

Nice series of some road trains. They do pull triples in the states but are mostly on the turnpikes from ohio and east. If any would like to know where to see them pm me and when i get back to my truck i will look it up on my atlas

Thank you for looking cessnalvr.

Super images. I just watched a program on the Science Channel the other day about the "truck trains" of Australia and it was quite fascinating. They are not your every-day truck and they are highly specialized for the task at hand and the ones that haul grain and have to contend with the clouds of dust in the fields are even more specialized.

Thanks for looking sippyjug104.

Just saw a feature video a couple of days ago on History channel about these Road Trains. The bumper is a shield against kangaroos and other road animals. Top speed was given as 55 mph.

Some major highways in Australia allow 100 kph (62 mph). All heavy goods vehicles over 12 tonnes are required to be fitted with speed limiters that does not allow the vehicle to exceed 100 kph (62 mph) - but I have been passed by semi trailers (with only one trailer), when I have been sitting on the speed limit in my car in a 100 kph zone.

I enjoyed your series if pictures very good looking rigs, I retired a few months ago after 40 years of owning and operating my one truck over the road operation. Those trucks must be turning some serious horsepower and torque to move those heavy loads.

Thank you for looking troutbum. The latest rigs are running engines approaching 700 hp and 2,300 ftlb torque at somewhere between 1,000 to 1,200 RPM.

This reminds me of the old country song, "Give me 40 acres and I'll turn this rig around".

The tri-drive quad tanker in my first photo had just turned around after refueling the prime mover at the pumps, that gives you an idea of how tight they can turn - a bit hard on the tires and wheel bearings though.
