Hi, I have been using LR( subscription) for 2 years now, and cannot print my pics! I just updated it and it seems they have changed something! HELP!!
I get a pop up that says "the destination folder for this is missing on all my pictures" also I went to back up and it says"catalogue size is more than 4 GB.Please use a third part such as 7zip or stuffit expander to extract your catalogue back up" I don't know what any of this means. Can someone tell me what to do?! Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I found the somewhat unhelpful help article by googling for the error message in the quotes. It involves downloading a file from Adobe (make sure you click on the download link in the help article), and copying it to a folder under Lightroom Preferences, then restarting. If this doesn't work, you at least can remove the downloaded file without harming anything else.

Good luck.

I was in Joshua Tree NP last month for shooting the super moon. While there, I tried wandering around one of the groves and shooting some of the trees in the brilliant full moonlight. It was after the moon was well up, and there was almost no color in the night sky, almost monochrome landscape, just a hint of a cream or washed-out yellow.

I didn't know what white balance setting to use. I tried several, ultimately leaving it on auto, thinking I would fix it in post-processing. I had read that moonlight had a color temperature around 4100-4200K, but any and all white balance adjustments look terrible. I tried applying several photo filter layers, and then almost completely desaturating the colors, that looks the closest to what I remember seeing. I prefer to spend minimal time post-processing, and more time wandering around and taking shots

My goal is to take photos that will capture how I felt when I was there. How do I expose for a moonlit scene, say in the desert with no humidity, that will capture the colors?

I was using a Sigma 20mm f2 art lens on a 5Dmark3 body, on a tripod.

thanks,
Wes

Wait a minute -- are you looking at your folders in the browser itself, or are you looking inside the folder directly, in a "Finder" window?
If you don't know how to tell, what is the name up in the menu bar in the top left of your screen, next to the Apple logo, when you are looking at all the photos.
If it says "Finder", you are looking in your folder directly; otherwise, you are looking at them via some other program, which could be your browser. If it's a browser, the name might be "Safari", or "Firefox", or "Chrome".

The reason I ask is that Finder windows can display folder contents in a variety of ways. One of them is called "Cover Flow", which is like a little slideshow in a top pane, and the list of the files down below. You can expand the image sizes by making the window bigger, and dragging the bar between the slideshow pane and the list pane down as much as you can.

Finder windows also display thumbnails of your images in a grid when they are in "Icon" display mode. If that's the case, you can right-click or hold down the Control key and click on an empty area, which brings up a context menu with an item called Set View Options; click it, and you'll get a little popup with a slider allowing you to set the icon size, all the way up to 512x512.

On the other hand, if you're really looking at your images in a browser, pressing the Command key and the "+" key usually increases the size of everything in the page, including the images.

Hope this helps.

I hope I'm in the correct forum this time. TL;DR The soft proofed image doesn't match the monitor image. It looks relatively drab and dingey.
Details:
I took a lot of photos of California poppies that I really like. Late afternoon light, really vibrant, rich colors, lots of nice detail in the plants and flowers, almost like an acrylic painting.
I'm trying to soft-proof them, before committing to print. I have the printer profile for my local Costco printer installed (that's the best that I have access to).
When I use the Proof Colors command in Photoshop CC, it's as if I'm viewing the photo through some gauzy, milky veil. The shadows lighten, and everything looks quite a bit duller, even losing some of the sharpest detail.
When I did the Proof Setup, the "veil" appears as soon as I check "Simulate Black Ink", if that helps. The Rendering Intent choices don't appear to make much difference in the soft proof.
I've fooled around with Levels adjustments to set the shadow and highlight points, and curves to brighten and contrast a bit, but I can't make this grey veil go away.
There must be a way to print these gorgeous colors. Does anyone know how to help?
Thanks, Wes

Find something you love and go do it. For me, the real kick-starter was the incredible flower bloom of California poppies two years ago. I finally just got in the car with my camera, arrived at a desolate location in the middle of the desert that was exploding with huge patches of bright orange poppies. Felt like I was on a different planet, so of course I had to try and capture every possible shot. Lots of mistakes, but exhausted and happy. It hasn't stopped yet.
