My 5100 fell from my desk to carpet, and now I get no shutter actuation- Is it worth it to send the camera to Nikon for repair when the value of the camera is low? Thanks, FM
Glad you got it working again. Mt Shooter came through.
Ive always found this aspect of photography to be a nightmare.
Yes, it becomes expensive. Especially the cost of ink, paper, and time. I had to travel a 45 mile trip, to get paper and ink. Ink kept increasing in price. I went to third party refilled cartridges to save money. That's when the nightmare began. I salute those who are successful at making their own prints. The way they like them to be. I now go to outside vendors to have my prints done. Some even do the larger prints, than what I need.
Checked on ebay, and it looks like what they're selling as 2TB is actually only 32GB of storage. I don't understand how they can label these drives as 2TB.
A 2 TB flash drive for $9, from eBay, just didn't appear to be legit. I never buy SD cards from eBay either. Other items are OK.
I don't own any mirrorless cameras, but the Sony a7 series mirrorless cameras, have very good reviews. And, the 70-200mm lens is a perfect sports lens. I've been to horse race tracks, but never to any Equestrian sports event. Very good photo.
Yes, they are. But, they all have Electronic View Finders, just like mirrorless cameras. I don't know, if they are still big sellers. Since, Sony is concentrating mostly on its E-Mount Mirrorless cameras.
I found the performance of Kirk Douglas in "Paths of Glory" one of his best. It illustrated his range of talent.
I never saw that movie in a theater, but on TV. I remember it took place during the WW1. An Officer who stood up against the higher military command, that wanted the executions of soldiers in his Unit. Great movie. I read some time later, the French Military, had protested the release of that movie.
All this talk about mirrorless vesus mirrored is fascinating. If I had an unlimited budget my thinking might be different. I have a very understanding wife and last year was able to move up to a full frame Nikon. I also only have that one camera body and 4 lens'. At some point maybe but at this point in time I'm content. I have a friend who has a sony and he bought a grip because of the Sony's short battery appetite. Sorry for the rant but I had to say something
Sony solved their fast battery drain problem with the introduction of the a9. The NP-PZ100 battery. Every Sony full frame mirrorless camera, since the a9, has the new longer lasting battery. Nikon has a longer lasting lasting battery too. The EN EL-15b. Replacement to the EN EL-15a.
Actor Kirk Douglas passed away at age 103. I was surprised he lived so long, after suffering a major Stroke many years ago. I remember seeing some of his movies when I was a kid. Three were Ulysses, Spartacus, and the Vikings. He played Artist Van Gogh, and countless other great movies, many in B&W after WW2. RIP Kirk.
Just one point about non-existance of Fuji Dslr cameras. I have a Fuji S5 Pro DSLR. Or is it my imagination?
I guess it is not your imagination? When that camera was released over a decade ago. Sony was still producing DSLRs. Sony does not produce DSLRs anymore.
Have not seen a lot of comments on the Canon and other mirrorless cameras.
What is the general consensus?
There are camera Brands that manufacture only mirrorless cameras. They are Sony, Fujifilm, Olympus, and Panasonic. Canon and Nikon are getting into the mirrorless technology. Canon and Nikon have now produced some very good mirrorless cameras. Two Nikon full frame cameras are the Z7 and the Z6. And their crop sensor is the Z50..There will be successors to these cameras. What, we don't know yet, is how long are Canon and Nikon, are going to continue to produce DSLRs? One thing that is different, that you'll have to get accustomed to, if you are a DSLR owner now, is the viewfinder. The mirrorless cameras have an Electronic Viewfinders (EVF) The DSLRs have an Optical Viewfinders (OVF).
Right now, you can get a refurbished D7500 from B&H Photo Shop for $599, with a 90 day warranty. And the same warranty for a refurbished D7200 from B&H for $694. Because of the popularity of two SD card slots, in the D7200, is probably why the refurbished D7200 has a higher price than the D7500. The D7500 has only one SD card slot. Google D7200 vs D7500, and you'll see the differences in the specs of each camera. You can't go wrong with either camera. Good luck.
