Several years ago we had just entered the Great Smoky Mts. National Park when I noticed several cars parked on the side of the road. People were standing on the edge of the woods pointing at something, so I grabbed my camera and quickly determined that they had spotted a bear. While they all remained on the edge of the woods near the road I headed into the woods in the direction that they were pointing, determined to get some bear photos.

Sure enough, after a short trek I spotted the bear which was then about 25 yards away. With my long lens I zeroed in and began shooting. After a few shots I suddenly heard a loud scratching sound coming from directly above me. I looked up to see two very cute bear cubs coming down the trunk of the tree that I was standing in front of. At that very same moment the mother bear that I was focused on reared up on hind legs and let out a menacing growl as she started toward me. I didn't realize that I could run that fast....or that commercial laundries charged so much to launder men's pants.
Several years ago we had just entered the Great Sm... (show quote)

But did you get shots of the cubs?

Have you investigated qDslrDashboard: http://dslrdashboard.info

This is the apple version:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/qdslrdashboard/id912760548?mt=8

I use the android version with my phone and tablet. I purchased a 15 foot usb cable and the adapter to connect the devices to a usb cable - works great...

Thank you very much! will try it this afternoon.

I may be wrong, but I think the Canon EOS Utility allows for this-I don't know if there is an app for it, or if it can install on a phone

Thanks Travisdeland. You're correct- the EOS Utility does what I want, but there is no equivalent ap for an IPad as far as I know. In the end, I may be forced to use a laptop instead.

Thanks for the response - read that before posting. Also checked the DSLR controller SW mentioned, but unfortunately it's Android only.

Canon introduced the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L lens in 1995. Six years later in 2001 they added image stabilizer to the lens. Ten years later the IS was updated. The lens has become one of Canon's best selling lenses.

And a staple in many pro's inventory...when you need it, the extra stop is worth the weight.

Is there a way to tether a Canon 5D3 to an IPad using USB that allows both image transfer AND camera control? Or is there a wireless solution other than Camranger? I do have the EOS utility which allows the functions from a laptop and the Canon Camera Connect ap which allows image transfer ONLY to an IPad via USB. I've also utilized both the UHH search function as well as Google without success. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Deja Vu! I did exactly the same shooting a wedding with an RB67. Forgot to rotate the back after taking a horizontal shot and took the top off all the heads (DESPITE the red lines in the viewfinder). I was saved because I had my trusty Canon F1 on another tripod next to it as a redundant camera. Knowing I was new at weddings (I had shot about 6 at the time) and the consequences of screwing up, I always used redundant cameras for the posed group shots. Advice: leave weddings to the pros, or risk serious retribution if you make a mistake! My youngest is getting married in October, and we're hiring a pro.

If you choose the Bronica and want to sell the Mamiya RB lenses, etc., send me a PM with descriptions and asking prices.

[quote=MiroFoto]Ooooh people, thank you all for the input and your time.
I think I need to narrow my question .

I have Adobe Elements 9. I have struggled learning and stopped using it. But for what I needed it was a great program.

1. I have a 4 years old Samsung lap top, very basic.
2. I need to start with RAW !!!
3. I would like to do HDR , color, WB and sharpening
4. I do not need organizing
5. I would like to set a profile and run all RAW as a batch
6. I do not want to spend too much time on learning !!! Do not understand me wrong - I have 2 Masters in engineering , but I hate learning something/ not using it & forgetting.
So if this can be done in Elements - what wersion ?? Or some old Photo shop version without monthly fees ?

I did try Picassa, Irfan & Correl before but quit too soon.

Can you please give it one more shot and advise? Thanks

If you choose Photoshop elements, you will need version 11 or higher to support ACR (raw converter) version 7.4 for your 7100.

It IS a heavy lens, but remember - you can trade that extra stop of aperture for a one stop lower ISO for the same shot, yielding less noise and better DR.

Let me add a further related question to the thread. Since rechargables typically are 1.2 volts/cell and alkallines are 1.6 volts (when new), are users seeing longer flash recycle times when using rechargables as opposed to alkalines?

Yes, Sanyo Eneloops. Now owned by Panasonic. They hold a charge very well. Always carry an extra set precharged. Also keep the MAH at or below 2500 for safety. Some higher volts with higher MAH can sometimes destroy a speedlight.

While higher voltage (not sure how that would occur with a single cell) could damage a device, a higher MAH rating is not a danger - it only specifies the energy storage capacity (in Milliamp hours) of the battery (more is typically better), not the voltage.

When you mention better faces, do you mean larger, or better IQ? I see a fair amount of noise on the faces which is to be expected with the 7D2 at ISO 6400. If better IQ (less noise) is your goal, then you need to get the ISO down from 6400 closer to 1600, so a faster lens would definitely help there (the 1.8 will give you a bit more than 2 stops), but will 100mm (x the 1.6 "crop factor" ) give you the reach you need? How about the Canon 135mm f2.0L prime for just under $1000 - do you feel you need the zoom capability or a longer reach?

With a close up look at the L[ I find a very well made corner with proper wood working design -choice of wood along with over lap with glue and proper screws makes a very strong joint.
, My thoughts are this is quite strong enough for this light wight camera/lens combination.

quote=mrtobin]It looks as if this is made out of wood. If it is I would not mount my camera to it. The joint at the "L" in very weak.

Nice job. You could enhance the strength of that L joint and the stability of the entire jig with the addition of a small triangular gusset spanning the joint on either or both sides - just a thought.

The funny thing is that when you cut through the p.r., the cloud is nothing but a fancy server farm and businesses have been doing it for decades.

Yep, the difference is that it's terrifying to hardware vendors because the Amazons and Googles of the world don't purchase storage, etc. from the traditional vendors, they build their own. They all see their business heading to the cloud.
