I like to burn DVDs of our travel photos and include a few movie clips from time to time. I'm currently using Pro Show Gold and have used Adobe Premier Elements in the past. Neither one has proven satisfactory in handling both photos and video. I've spent a lot of time online trying to find a program that works for both with no success. Does anyone have a program that works well using the MOV format for movies created with Canon 5D II? The problem I'm experiencing is in loading the movies into the program -- will load one or two and then freeze. Also simply doesn't play some of the clips even though the program allowed them to load. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You may wish to try Getty Images http://www.gettyimages.com/ and/or Corbis Images http://www.corbisimages.com/ to see if they have the angle that you want. Both are searchable stock photo sites. I know the shot that you want, but didn't get up there myself when we were there. Another possibility is Google Earth. I use the stock photo sites to research a place that I'm going to be traveling. When I find some great shots I then use Google Earth to determine from where the shot was taken so that I can plan ahead and know where I want to be at the time of day that I want to shoot. Works well!

We travel a lot (42 countries at last count) and the lens I use probably 90 percent of the time is my Canon 24-105. It's on a full frame body, however, (5DII), so it works for much of the scenery I shoot as well as architecture and street scenes. If you'll be spending the major portion of your trip in urban areas a 24-105 would probably work fine on a crop camera.

An interesting discussion. I believe that technology-particularly post-processing technology such as Photoshop-is changing the DEFINITION of the "art" of photography. I remember when some of the great publications such as National Geographic did not permit their fine photographers to submit anything for publication that had been altered. Such is no longer the case. Photography now encompasses not only the technical and artistic skills needed to come up with a compelling shot, but also the ability to effectively improve that shot using the knowledge and skills involved in post processing. For some time that has bothered me, but I've become convinced that the greats such as Ansel Adams would have thoroughly embraced the new technology and its ability to add further dimension to their art.
