I am a school bus driver, and the school district here is planning on opening in a couple of weeks. There is no way that the younger kids on the bus will wear masks - we cannot even get them to stay in their seats! In order to 'socially distance', we could only get about 10 students on a bus, but our elementary runs mostly carry upwards of 60...

As an older person, in several risk categories, I am not keen this situation at all...

There was a law student at {insert favorite university} who dug into the old laws, and sued the college as they were supposed to provide him with a pint of ale every night.

The college settled, and paid up. Then they fined him for not wearing a sword...

I wish people would not post these "answer coming later" puzzles. I get the digest, and rarely if ever do I get to see a post with the correct answer provided...

I have an SX50. It is a great little camera. I do remember that when the SX60 came out, most reviews I saw claimed that it was not as good as the 50, but I personally can't verify that.

One thing I will say is, the SX50 has the worst manual I have ever seen, for *any* product! It was my first digital camera, and I had a heck of a time figuring it out. It has some options which are on by default, and you cannot find them in the manual unless you know exactly what Canon calls them. I remember trying to take photos of Christmas lights around the neighborhood and it kept taking looong exposures, no matter what settings I used. There is some feature which will override the controls , unless you turn it off. May be obvious to someone who is used to digital cameras, but my last had been a Canon A1... Also, the manual is unreadable, in the sense that every single section refers to another which is many pages away. That one will refer to somewhere else, and so on...

Honestly, great camera, dismal manual!

I am having a strange issue with UPS/USPS at the moment. I have a package coming from California. Last Tuesday (the 14th) I got an email saying that it was on its way, and they gave me a tracking number. According to the tracking site, it was scheduled for delivery last Saturday (the 18th).

Now, this is one of those deals where UPS transports it to the destination area, then hands it off to USPS for delivery - I don't know why. Anyway, the last entry on the tracking site was that it had been received at the UPS site in some place in CA. I thought that they had just stopped making the entries. Saturday came and went, no delivery, nothing further on the page.

This Tuesday (the 21st) I sent an email to the company asking if they could see anything from their end. I got the usual blather about how the virus has slowed everyone down, etc., etc. They said that they could not claim something was lost for 30 days.

I checked the tracking site yesterday, just out of habit. Lo and behold, it is travelling again! It is currently in Harrisburg, PA.

Glad that it is finally coming, but it is hard to believe that the virus could hold it up in one spot for over a week! Oh, and the tracking page says "Come back later for estimated delivery", and has done for 24 hours now...

Usually, I much prefer UPS to Fedex (their drivers have a habit of leaving packages outside the screen porch, just 2 steps from anyone walking past. Last time, they put it on the step, so I couldn't open the door to get it without pushing it over!). This time, though, I am not happy about the way this is being handled.

Sorry, the above should read "A Touch of Frost", and not Inspector Frost...

You mean you watched all 23 seasons of "Silent Witness?"

Have you checked out Britbox? Lots of good British mysteries there, more Vera, more Morse, more Silent Witness, etc. And no subplots about deadbeat brothers, angst filled teenage children, drug addict sisters, alcoholic fathers, and/or convicted felon mothers! Hooray!

Whenever a series introduces a person with "issues" that is a family member of one of the main characters, I figure the writers and producers have run out of ideas.
You mean you watched all 23 seasons of "Silen... (show quote)

I recently added Britbox to my Prime tv, and I am splurging... Almost finished Vera - although there are 2 seasons which are only on Acorn... Up to series 3 of Silent Witness... Other good ones on there are "Inspector Frost", Taggart (although you may have problems with the Glasgow accents!), Unforgotten, and a whole bunch more. A real good one is "Our Girl", although I am not sure if that is Britbox or just Prime itself. About a young girl who joins the army as a medic. With one or two small exceptions, the military stuff is done correctly - they wear the uniforms properly, stuff like that.

I have watched these as they ran on cable. They are good, but... I get frustrated at how many times they have this whole "draining away" segment. It's like a dozen times per episode. Everyone knows that they are not physically doing this, so why keep harping on about it? Do it once at the beginning, to justify the series title, then just accept that this is done by remote imaging...

Great shot! Nicely focused, and you brought out a couple of background galaxies too...

I was scared of the dark for years, because my big brother told me that scorpions live in the dark. He neglected to explain that scorpions don't live in the north of England...!

I learned in a Cessna 150 - G-ATJU - at Sunderland airport in the UK. This sadly, is now a Nissan car factory, although I believe my current car was made there!

Soloed a few times, but never got my license due to the closing of the airport, and where I was serving in the military.

I have John Cleese's voice on mine.

I bought John Cleese, and used it for a while, but he wasn't funny. Plus, when you go round a roundabout, he does a weird thing, and makes it a question - "Go around the roundabout, second exIT?", with a strong rise in pitch on the last syllable.

Just a little thing, but it bugged the heck out of me... So I went back to Wallace. I actually met the guy in London, many years ago. Well, bumped into him in the street, actually. Never could remember his name, but he was nice enough to respond when I said hello.

I find my GPS a source of great amusement. I was visiting friends in another state, and they live on an unpaved road. When I entered the address, the unit dutifully informed me of this, and asked if I wanted to go somewhere else... Well, no; that is where they live. When I left their house and set the unit to go home, it warned me again, and asked if I wanted to go via a different route, in order to avoid the unpaved road I was currently parked on!

I have installed the voice from "Wallace & Grommit" on the unit. Last year, I was using it on the bus for a wrestling field trip. Coming along the road from the school on the way back, it suddenly announced "Left turn ahead boy! You can do it... Just turn the wheel!". This unit is probably over 10 years old, and I had *never* heard that particular message. The coaches sitting behind me cracked up - I thought one of them was going to have a stroke!

Ah, fun days on the bus... I wonder if it is missing me?
