Found this mom and baby Killdeer going along a country road. She wasn't too happy but we got pictures of her baby. Also found a rabbit down the road. We stopped so not to scare it and the silly rabbit started running toward us, right up to the car door. Think he wanted to go home with us.

Our daughter and son in law went fishing along with their Rottweiler and I took these photos. While there I saw the biggest, fattest, and I think the ugliest turtle come climbing over the ditch bank. He looked like he never went hungry. He was definitely a biting turtle.

I think so. They seemed to want as close as possible to each other.

I love the way they've spent all their tiny lives touching each other in the nest, so that on their first day out they only feel comfortable in physical contact with each other. Physical separation must be one of the next steps in their maturation. I wonder, if they are capable of having little bird dreams, would separation be a nightmare to them?

Love this series!
In that last photo, the first chick, in trying to grab the second serving of bug from mom, is letting its first meal get away... LOL

We were driving through our local park complex and came across these 4 baby barn swallows. We parked about 20 feet from them and enjoyed quite a show for the next 20 minutes out our car window. They didn't seem to mind. I thought they were sooooo cute and probably took 100 photos, but won't load them all here...lol

Great shot and not overprocessed. I was just reading last night about what to plant for a butterfly garden. Swallowtails lay their eggs on dill and related plants such as fennel, parsley and carrots. Monarchs only lay on milkweeds.

We plant dill in various places in the yard just for these black swallowtail caterpillars. We have brought several inside so our granddaughters could watch the process and then when the butterfly apoears we all take it outside to release it.
