I have been using AFtershot Pro 3 which came with my camera. I was curious about another program. I downloaded Lightzone and tried it out. Opened up the same Pre-edited RAW file to compare the results.
All I did was convert the file from RAW to Jpeg. No editing at all. Here is the results. I don't know if this is a fare comparison or not, but there is a difference. The top one is from Aftershot which is much closer to the the original. The other is from LIghtZone which is much lighter. I tried other files to see if they would be any closer to the original Raw file in appearance. All of them washed out lighter when I pushed the edit button in LightZone.
Any comments?

I’m relatively new to DSLR cameras and like the features I find in my D3400 which I know is entry level. I see all the excitement about the more advanced cameras especially the D850 and started looking at some reviews. I just watched a YouTube review by Maarten Heilbron who was as thorough as could be on this wonderful piece of technology. Half way through the video I decided I don’t need this camera mostly because of the learning curve.
I asked myself, who needs all that ‘stuff’?
I’m sure most of you are grinning at me now and that’s ok. I’m sure a majority of you can suck all that technology right in and and put it to use.
I’ll stop rambling now.

the name of this plant in our front bed. We were told it was tropical and would die here in Virginia. But it has come back for 5 years now.

Nikon 18-55 70-300. Both kit lens. I can get some decent shots with them if I hold em still!
Just ordered a 35mm F1.8G. I’m told that I will like it because of it’s sharpness.

An old DOS Batch file genius told me one time that “DOS has the uncanny ability to do exactly what you tell it to do, with little regard for what you want it to do” That hasn’t changed with modern OS’s.
