The black-fronted dotterel (Charadrius melanops) is a small plover in the family Charadriidae that is found throughout much of Australia and New Zealand.
I took these shots about 5 years ago now and sadly the lovely sandy area on the edge of these wetlands is now overgrown with reeds.
Even the bird hide that's there is so covered with reeds you can't see out of it.

That’s a gorgeous little bird, Ron, and you caught every detail. It a shame about the habitat.

Nice shots of a wet bird. I haven’t seen any Cormorants lately.

Great set Carol. White birds are really tough subjects but you shot them well

Thank you. I used to avoid white birds but I don’t find them to be a problem anymore.

Wonderful photos, Carol. What an amazing sight, given I've seen one white egret in my entire life

So glad you're out again with your camera!

Thank you, Linda. You must not have gone out in the wilds much when you lived down here. We even see an occasional Egret in the neighborhood.

Nice set. You definitely have plenty to pick from.

True but all of these were egrets, Great and Snowies. I’ll take them anyway.

Welcome back Carol!

Love those Purple thistles, a Florida native species. Cirsium horridulum - I guess the species name - horridulum - came from someone who fell on one.

Glad to be back for sure. I’m a fan of the thistles, too. One year they were spraying them to kill them but either it didn’t work or someone pointed out tha they were native cause there back in big numbers.
