I saw this technique in Outdoor Photographer so I gave it a try. The execution takes some practice and tweaking - and the lines and color of the subject definitely affects the result when using this technique. I took a few different pictures this way and the possibilities in PP are endless since it can almost be considered abstract.

Btw, tripod recommended but I did this handheld while hiking.

I'm looking to upgrade to the 5D mkIV. I'm in no hurry and I'm at the point where I just want to clear inventory. I have 4 bodies...don't need 5 (don't need 4, or 3 even). I shoot sports and wildlife primarily and I usually carry 2 to cover a broader range and minimize lens swapping. I have a number of lenses that I rarely, if ever, use anymore. Some have really never been used except the "open the box and try it out" (kit lenses) when first purchased. I'm hoping to net ~ $2500 from the whole lot for sale below - if you do the math, you'll find that number to be considerably less than the total of the list prices. Point being, there is some room to negotiate. I didn't spend a lot of time researching pricing so if you're interested in something and you feel the price is out of line, let me know and I'll look into it further. If you're NOT interested but you feel the need to comment because you know the value of everything better than everyone else - save your time.
I don't recall when I purchased most of this stuff....I rarely buy things that just hit the market. I did buy the 5Dii shortly after the 5Diii released. The 5Dii is very lightly used (<8800 actuations) and I really like the FF quality. I used it for landscapes and family/kid portraiture mostly. I wouldn't get rid of it except it would be redundant to the 5DIV.

REDUCED 7d (1st gen) with Canon grip and one Canon battery. 55,581 shutter actuations. $550
SOLD 5d mkII with Vello grip and one Canon battery. 8758 shutter actuations. $800
REDUCED 100-400L IS 4.5-5.6 with soft case and tripod collar. (1st gen) $800
REDUCED EF-S 18-135mm IS STM 3.5-5.6 $225
SOLD 28-135mm IS USM 3.5-5.6 with hood and UV filter. $150
SOLD Sigma 10-20mm EX DC HSM 4-5.6 with hood and UV filter $200
REDUCED Tamron 200-500mm 5-6.3 SP AF Di LD(IF) with hood, tripod collar and soft case. $450

All items in excellent condition. Glass is all good (no scratches, marks, etc) and camera bodies have no scratches, marks, etc.

If interested in any items and you want more information (pictures of / pictures with), let me know.

I don't think that having a camera in my hand makes me more privileged than anyone else, period.

Having a camera doesn't provide you or anyone else with more privilege or preferential treatment, BUT....the people that cross boundaries are not only inconsiderate to photographers, but everyone else that might be there for the view. They obstruct everyone's enjoyment of whatever spectacle people are there to see. It also leads to further restrictions....rope moved even further away or worse, the area closed off completely because some moron took a spill.

Was there last Friday and I can attest to the chill while near the river. It felt 20 degrees colder than when I left the house. I was in the area for reasons other than shooting the eagles so I didn't exactly prepare for the elements. I only lasted 90 minutes and fortunately I did get some half decent shots off while there. I was fairly satisfied with what I got or I might have hung around longer. Planning for another trip down and I'll be better prepared next time. I got a few shots of what you can expect when you get there. One thing I did find was that you don't really have to pay close attention.....every time an eagle left the towers or approached from a different angle, someone made an announcement that there was action and where to look.

$600 for a 7D???

I'm sorry. My first instinct was to contact you and get your opinion on how I set the prices but it was late....I was getting tired. Now look what I got myself into....you're not pleased and I really didn't want that to happen.

Needing help in AF. We shoot with a Canon 5Diii, manual, and BBF. How do you set the AF1: AF configuation tools for sports? I am losing my focus tracking. We shoot all high school sports from soccer, FB, track, SB, BB and all indoor activities.

What is SB?

Not quite so much crop might be better. The wing tip and the foot are a bit too close to the edge of the frame. Otherwise, terrific capture!

Agreed. Maybe just 10% less crop. Very nice though!

Jeez, when you buy a 1Dx as a kit, all the kit lenses are L's.
So there's the proof, every lens Canon makes is a kit lens!!

The new 5Ds/r's come kitted with the new $3000 wide zoom. Canon's newest kit lens!!

Oh, and BTW, every fifty that Canon makes is NIFTY!
Can't wait to get my hands on one of those NIFTY FIFTY f1.0's, they are the nifty BOMB!!!!

Thanks, I'm glad you agreed with my statement.

I don't think the 18-135 is a kit lens. Just because a lens comes in a kit, does not make it a kit lens.
What lens are you thinking of getting that will actually go to 18mm on a crop camera and have any range?? It will take several lenses to replace!!!
Check the MTF charts of the lenses you consider or read the reviews at "The Digital Picture". Not to many have the expertise to compare lenses.
I usually say, if you want a better quality built lens, then upgrade. If you are looking for better IQ, you might be very disappointed!
Anyway, good luck. ;-)

A lens that comes in a kit, is exactly what makes it a kit lens. Because it's a kit lens, doesn't make it a bad lens.
