Hello club members:
Here is my question. I just took over from my daughter her d-90. The photos I am taking with it looks terrible. My Kodak brownie takes better photos. I have used every button on the camera from manual, aperture, sports, you name it. The exposure is just plain off. I am thinking maybe she dropped it and was afraid to tell me. Who knows with kids.
What suggestions and comments do you have?
Thanks as always.

The photos look fine to me, as good as my D800. I would, of course, process them to bring up saturation, sharpness, etc. Why don't you post photos from your camera that does such a much better job than these?

I reinstalled CaptureNX2. Same problem. JPEGS can be seen in ViewNX2 and CaptureNX2, so I doubt that the card is corrupted. However, I will reformat the card as a test.

Download the latest versions, View NX-i, Capture NX-D. I would be surprised if this doesn't solve your problem. Media problem seems a remote possibility to me.

Oh, you could read the file in View-NX but couldn't open it in CaptureNX2. Try the latest version.

I have no clue, but I noticed you are using outdated software. Obviously the D7000 NEF file could no longer be read by the older software??? If I had the problem and the new software solved it, I would conclude it's a software problem. I seem to remember some issues here on UHH regarding reading NEF files from newer cameras with View-NX.

Back in my 82d days, Fayettville had a good camera store.

Im 86 and can remember the Hudson Hornet back in the late 40s blowing all the fords and olds off the track at the old Langhorne speedway. It came stock with two carbs. Back than they had to be true stock cars. No hopped up engines. They had to be stock. Some tried to cheat, but the winners car was checked to make sure it was stock. Old AJ was found to be the biggest cheater. One time they found he had his roll bars filled with fuel and a small tube into the tank. They knew something was wrong when he could stay out about 10 laps longer than anyone else.

I think the first Hornet was 1951

I am 77 and I remember my uncle driving the family from Chicago to Paris Arkansas. we took this trip together from the time I was pre-school till I went to high school. Back then there were no interstates and the towns were separated by fairly long stretches of open road. One of the cars my uncle owned during that time was a Hudson Hornet. He knew where the little towns had their speed traps and in between we would be doing a 100 MPH or more with nary a car sharing the road with us. This was also WAAYYY before seat belts and if the car we were in had a rear window ledge that is where I would be during most of the trip. Back then we kids weren't too good to keep from being thrown through the windshield like every body else in an accident. Fortunately, we never had one.

Interesting article, although I thought the photography was quite poor.
Thank you for the link.

Actually, I thought the photo of the antelope pretty nice. The one where he looks straight at the camera.
