Thank you, Pilot. I would say the average distance is around 150 feet. So, I got lucky to be about 100 feet from this Bald Eagle shot. Usually, they will fly away if you get too close.

Thank you for the info. Your photos are much appreciated!

I used 560mm and it was a hand held shot under partly cloudy skies.

That's one beautiful shot! When photographing eagles, how far away are you, on average?

My wife and I go to The City often. I take my Tamron 16-300mm lens. It covers everything.

In what order should I try to buy. I have the Canon T5i and I am looking to upgrade but don't know what camera would be right for me. I shoot a lot of portrait and flowers and landscapes, a little of everything. Thanks ahead of time. I know the Hoggs won't let me down because you never have and I have faith in you guys and gals.

Why only Canon lenses?

I used the Canon SX50 for about 2 years and never had any trouble with it; great camera. When the SX60 came out there were complaints about focusing problems but I bought one anyway. Have been using it for about a year now and have never had any problems with it either. Excellent quality prints. In my opinion the SX60 is every bit as good as the SX50, if not better.

Traveler90712 is right about the SX50 being cheaper. A refurbished one (Canon discontinued the SX50) costs around $149.00, or cheaper if you can find one.

Ron, I also have hassles with red flowers--usually loss of edges/detail &/or over saturation. I have largely fixed it by under exposing & then regaining it (if necessary) in PP. When shooting red flowers, I always set my EV to (-) .7, or even (-) 1.0. I find this helps tremendously. Earl. :-)

I agree with DOOK! Under exposing reds, plus a little sharpening, has helped me.
