I use my Nikon 28-300 on my D810 body while traveling international and sell better shots from this trsvel. I seldom want for another lens. Never is one lens cover all, but when traveling this is a good way to simplify gear on the road... Just a thought!

As travel photography is a bit different! I like to be able to get a shot over there using some telephoto reach or I can get closer. You don't always have a choice. Granted a 50mm primary lens is lighter and quality maybe better (but you'll never notice the image quality difference when you get home!). Get all the great shot you deserve - take zee zoom. I'm 73 years oldish and can still carry a Nikon D810 with a Nikon 28-300 zoom all day with a sling camera strap. Good luck and bring home some great shots... Just a thought!

Great choice. In my retirement and before as I have traveled to over 63 countries and the Galapagos that range of zoom has never let me wanting for another lens. Just figure a way to handle back-lit shots which can make the subject too dark.

The lens hood helps keep finger prints off of your lens as well as helps with avoiding some lens flares events. The less you have to clean fingered prints off your lens first element or UV filter the better.... just a thought!

I've been to more than 63 countries since I retired and only taken one body with one lens, a 28-300, and a Sony RX 100 as backup. Never felt a need for another lens. I've taken about 4 river cruises and you are way over packing photo gear. For most foreign travel just one camera body and one lens is all you'll need.

JPEG's don't zip/reduce the total file size much. They will put several photos in one file, but the receiver must know how to Unzip when received...!

Simply re-res (reduce dots per inch) to 120 as the monitor can not display any more than that anyway and resize to no more than 5X7 inches for each photo and I'll bet you can send 6 to 8 images per email.... but resize and re-res a COPY of each photo. good luck!

Send it to the East Coast Nikon repair station. I and several folks I know around here have had some bad experiences with the West coast shop!! But send it in and you'll get it fixed...

I had a D800 and now shoot with the D810 and I believe the D810 is what the D800 should have been. Go right to the D810, DO go past "Go" (D800). I do a lot of foreign trips and sell many of my shots from these travels. At 73 I'll hold on to this camera until I will need a lighter rig. With a shoulder strap I get much more carry hours per day. I use the Cinch Strap and avoid neck pain about 99% of the time. It is better than most others of which I've used. It is adjustable and just damn comfortable. I'm retired and so is my body, but carry around a Nikon D810 with a Nikon 28-300 zoom all day most any place in world (travel internationally a lot) without killing my neck. Best $70.00, at that time, I ever spent on making photography more comfortable. You get better control with this Strap than the other popular straps. Good luck
