I've used OP-Tech straps on all my SLR's and now My DSLR's since the early 90's if you can't find something browsing their site I'd be surprised.

I m sorry the title was Lens help. I have several tripods. 3 speed lights several soft boxes and umbrellas with stands. Backdrops, bags for many different situations including back packs sling bags and shoulder bags. Straps galore invested in trying to find the “right” one until finally settling on my favorite a simple wrist strap. And of course tons of cards. Someday I may have interest in reach of 500-600 but I shoot a lot of College Hockey and that is just too much reach. I prefer to shoot from Ice level not high in the stands. I have good access to sidelines for college lacrosse while that reach would be great I can get away with out it. So all that being said an 80-200 or 70-200 would have the most utility between sports, portraits, and the street. Even though I already have those focal lengths covered I would like something that focuses faster and locks better than the 55-300 and of course is sharper.

I saw the title was "Lens Help", and that you are currently suffering a GAS attack. Since I could not know the level of your experience, other then you joined the hog in 2012, I was only offering what at the time I considered reasonable advice. Obviously you are heavy into our hobby/passion and are asking for a higher level of advice , of which our fellow HOGS have offered, then I thought, my apologies.

I have GAS. Here are the parameters. I have $800 to spend no more. I have a Nikon D7100 with the following glass. 18-55 and 55-300 kit lenses, 35,50 and 85 mm 1.8 primes. I like to shoot sports, hockey and lacrosse as well as Street and portraits. I would love a 70-200 2.8. But with 2 in college I can not justify spending more than $800 right now. I am not opposed to refurb or used. The kit lenses are what they are, I love my primes because I think each one is a great value for the money. So I am looking for a lens that is a good value. Suggestions? Any ideas on great values in that price range? Thank you

You did mention if you currently have any accessories. For now you have a decent compliment of lenses, you only seem to lack a long telephoto, one that reaches to 500 or 600 mm. Have you considered investing in a good quality tripod, a better flash unit then the on camera one. There are many accessories for your camera that would good investments, remote shutter release, a few extra SD cards and so on. Do you have a decent bag, or backpack for your current kit, lots of ways to spend that $800.00.

These were taken with my first digital SLR, a Nikon D100, 6 megapixels, so they might not be up to todays technical standard.

Fantastic images Mike. It's not necessarily the equipment but the photographer using it, and in this case I'd say it definitely applies. Bravo!

Cropped, puts the focus on the subject with his phone. The uncropped image just doesn't do any thing for me, honestly how often do you see an image posted here and wonder what's going on outside the frame.

Kodak used to sell a camel hair brush in one and two inch size. I carried one to clean my view camera lenses. They were good for dusting lenses and camera bodies, I still use mine. Adorama says they are no longer available but offers their own version as well as Delta products.

One should be able to find decent camel hair brushes in any art supply store, A.C. Moore and Michael's come to mind.

Great images, visited the BB North Carolina in Wilmington when I was a kid. Hope to get around to seeing some of the others here on the East Coast in the future.

You don't put the update file on your card, only the ".bin" file. AND it needs to go in the cards root directory, not in a folder. Also, you have to leave your second card slot empty, the update will not be recognized if you have cards on both slots.

Also you need to select "Firmware" from the cameras menu after you have the card in.

Yes. And I also think that a box of 1 gallon ziplocks is worth its weight in gold within any harsh environment.

Ziplocks are an excellent idea, though I would look for the larger 1 1/2 or 2 1/2 gallon sizes, as they give you more versatility.

Not really. Not sure what you were going for, though as a dog owner I would assume waiting on his master. Would be better if you captured more of the face and eyes I think. As an example.

44 out of 45, guess that makes me a fan of westerns. Some of the photos were not that great, making a couple a little hard. Coming up with the movie or television series the photos are from would be a challenge.

As Nikon user and going on a year and half on the Hog I do not recall seeing posts on problems with the updates.

It would be helpful to know what you plan on budgeting. I have a Nikkor 200-400 refurbished by Nikon that I use on both my D5100 and D750. Which I find to be really good for what you want to photograph, however even refurbed the cost was around $1400.00. Honestly you could go with an older refurbed body i.e., a D5300 or a D7200 from Nikon at reasonable prices.

Oops memory is going make that the Nikon 80-400 f4.5-5.6 ED-VR AF lens.

I think you'll find the 70-300 a good lens for nature photography, especially backyard photography. I have the older version I use with my D5100 and have captured some amazing shots. As far as the lens hood goes, if you are buying new and from a reputable dealer, a lens hood is part of the lens package put together by Nikon, and comes in the box.

My mistake, checked the Nikon website to send you the link, and I see that the lens hood is not part of the package. It is however listed as an accessory, Nikon HB-77 bayonet lens hood.
Do not know if it will be different in the UK.
