Your "leaders" have been trying, for years, to destroy Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid - something most if not all of you have paid into. Your working children have paid into. If your "leaders" get their way, you AND YOUR CHILDREN will lose.

Your "leaders" don't even have a complete plan, let alone one that would actually work, to replace SS/Medicare.

As I previously proposed, the US used the crossing as an opportunity to gather intelligence. From todays article in the Washington Post:

"President Biden directed that all sensitive sites were protected from espionage, “which was straightforward because we could track the path of the balloon and ensure no sensitive activities or unencrypted communications would be conducted in its vicinity,” said National Security Council strategic communications coordinator John Kirby. “At the same time, we turned the tables on China and collected against the balloon, so that we would learn more about China’s capabilities and tradecraft.”

Monitoring the recent balloon helped fill in gaps about the four others, officials said. The U.S. military sent up fighter jets and other aircraft over the past week to observe the airship. A Chinese spy balloon that crashed off the Hawaiian islands last June also yielded helpful information, including about the nature of the technology China is using, they said."

You can feel free to discount the reporting, but it will appear in other sources. Perhaps Trump might have taken the cowboy response; it would not have been the response advised by the intelligence community.

Jackson Hole (The Borowitz Report)—Demonstrating his commitment to keeping America secure, former Vice-President Dick Cheney has offered to shoot down all future balloons that venture into U.S. airspace.

“I haven’t touched my hunting rifle in a few years, but handling a gun is like riding a bicycle,” he said. “You just pick it up, and, blammo!”

Cheney said that he was prepared to watch the skies for foreign balloons and, the moment he spots one, “I’ll use my patented hunting technique: aim, squint, fire.”

The former Vice-President said that he was honored to take part in a geopolitical struggle he called the War on Inflatables.

“Either you’re with us, or you’re with the balloons,” he said.
