The one thing I find amazing (not a happy "amazing") is that the XP-970 accepts only one sheet of photo paper in the rear slot. I'm not used to that from previous photo printers. However, seeing the quality of the print, I can accept one-sheet-at-a-time.

Just know Jerry, that I finally learned that I needed a color inkjet printer, for my teaching needs. I tried Canon and HP, with both being a disaster. With the Epson rep standing in the MicroCenter store, we talked about the Epson XP-970 printer. Installed, and it prints perfectly. I commend you on the one you've purchased too.

Keep us posted about what you actually purchase. This should not be complicated, yet it has become just that. I'm hoping my sharing my experience will assist you in making your own purchase. By the way, my Epson is their XP-970.

Julian, Here's how the Epson outperformed my former favorite ... Canon, and then HP.

Neither of the two mentioned brands included a CD of the print drivers. Neither. So I first bought the Canon, and followed their direction to go to the Canon website for the print drivers. really? At their website, my model was not listed, anywhere. Then I tried calling them. The recorded message said I had to apply for a Canon account, which I did. On my next call, back to the same "customer service", the recorded message instructed me to tell them the phone number I used to join. I gave it, and the next outgoing message said my "one year of customer service had expired". During all this trip, there was no way to actually talk to a human. Done with Canon.

Then the HP, and by the way, this would have been a $400 inkjet printer. At MicroCenter, standing next to the salesman was an HP REP. I told them I would not purchase it unless there truly WAS a CD enclosed with print drivers. The rep knelt on the floor and tilted the big box. "Yes", he said, it has an enclosed cd with print drivers. I was also told that I should connect the HP to the internet via a direct line. I didn't have one where the printer would go, so I purchased an either net hub, and two additional cables that would be needed. At home, opening the box, I found (a) NO cd with printer drivers, and then (b) the big printer had no receptacle for an either net cable. Double lie, and no printer to use. Return back to MicoCenter. On that trip, there happened to be an Epson Rep. He not only assured me that a cd with print drivers would be enclosed, but he opened a box to show it to me. At home, I was able to install it, and it works just fine. I'm totally done with Canon printers and HP printers.

I store all my images and data files on an external hard drive simply for security. Over the years with my iMacs, it has paid off.

I just bought an Epson XP-970 printer. Out performed an HP and a Canon. I'm curious to see where this string goes.

I would be most interested. I like Jerry's comment about 'foreign' and 'domestic'. For me, I've been fortunate to travel to Europe 16 times. Now it is time to do some traveling here. So I'm sitting with a lot of hints for foreign. I'll also be watching for domestic, for that will my future until after Covid is in better control.

Remember those 12" "things" use to listen to music? That's right, the L.P. Now I'm not a user of them any more, but my college students are, and in the past 25 years teaching college students, every class has had a significant number who love L.P.s, and keep them alive?

Cameras, as in 35mm? They will never disappear. In 2040, there may be a "low population" of 35mm digital cameras, but ""what goes around, comes around"". And Canon, Nikon, Pentax, and the rest will survive. I just want them to hang on that long.

I've done many wrapped canvas prints, all the way up to 4' tall, 6' wide. For the smaller ones I've used several on-line companies, but I have to admit, my best results were from a company in St. Louis called NovaColor. They are great.

You know how you can use a key to unlock something, and then must use the key to 'move the tongue' back into the locked position? My neighbors a block away, and in clear view of the major size mail box, have seen a USPS employee use his/her key to unlock the box to remove all mail to go "out", but then ... for whatever reason, would use his/her key to return the 'tongue' to his locked position, all the time while the box is -open-. Then he/she would simply push the door back up, leaving the mailbox 'open' for anyone, in the next 24 hours, to simply pull the ""locked"" door open and help themselves to whatever new mail is in there.

That is a sample of the USPS service we have here.

I'll bet many of you knew this already, but until a month ago, I did not. Never EVER put a personal check in the USPS mail. Never!

I've now learned what a "washed check" is. I wrote a check for $110 go a knee/ankle LLC business, put it into the mail box,and learned that it was never arrived. Shortly after that, I received a call from my bank asking if I wrote a check for $4,200 to XXXXX person. H7!! no, but that person took that amount of money from my check account. Totally fraud, and my bank did refund my money, but after my checking account had to be closed, new one opened, then new credit card, new debit card, and then the task of contacting everyone who made direct deposit to my account (as in retirement), and anyone who did direct withdrawal (as in my mortgage). However today I learned that the mortgage bank could do withdrawals for only 30 days. Tomorrow, I get to drive to the mortgage bank, complete a form for NEW withdrawal, and also to write a check for September, since the new form won't take kick in until October.

Moral of the story? Never ever put a personal check into an envelope with a stamp on it. Never. And before anyone might think "I'll tick "pay by credit card" and then write down your credit card number, et. al., and put THAT into an envelope with a stamp on it, think again, for you will have possibly given your credit card number over to a total scam person.

I know there are excellent USPS carriers out there. Very few in my zip code.

So there my fellow members. I share this so that you won't have to go through all of what I have had to do, and I'm not finished it.

Once upon a time, I printed all of my images, and used an excellent Canon printer. An "updated" operating system would not recognize that printer, so I sold it. I even sold it to a fellow UHH member. So that is when I moved over to wrapped canvas. That is why I don't have a ink jet printer.

I hang about 10 8x10 "posters" in the fall, and ten more (different content) in the spring. So that is not much in quantity, but my department chair suggest I do this when a new colleague wanted to offer "competition" to my courses. The posters have been very successful.

Thank you RodeoMan. My students tell me that my class is interesting to them. The fall class is the Physics of Light, Sound, and Electricity, and geared for photography majors, audio majors, animation majors, and the entire Theater Department has made my class required for all their students. As you may have already suspected, I teach the physics of those three topics, but I supplement everywhere with application they have seen about them, applications they can take with them after the course is over. My spring class is called Physics for Poets. Why? A colleague, who teaches chemistry, announced at a department meeting that when he gets my student, he is impressed that they can write. Hence, why he was the one who suggested that my course name should be changed to Physics for Poets. Yes, I do require them to write detailed lab reports, and every test will have an essay section. Why? I never want them to accept anything I say unless it makes total sense to them. Knowing there could be an essay question on any topic at all, causes them to be inquisitive throughout the semester. That class is heavily populated with Ed Majors. Being a teacher myself with 55 years of teaching experience, I thoroughly enjoy have future teachers in my class studying physics, where I can -also- talk with them about secrets in teaching.

I want to thank all of you who have given me suggestions about where I can get 8x10 prints made. I've checked each recommended website, and bookmarked nearly all of them.

Oh, one more thing. With the number of years teaching, first at high school AP Physics, and then 25 more years teaching college level physics (and intending 20 more years teaching), -teaching- is my first passion. And my second passion is photography. Like so many of you, I began with a film camera when I was in high school, and have continued to this day with so many digital images. If you've been to Rome, or even if not, you may be familiar with the Spanish Steps. I have a 6' high, 12' wide canvas wrap of the Spanish Steps. I have more wrapped canvas prints, not wanting to bore you with, but I've always felt welcomed here, among others for whom photography is also their passion.
Thanks all. Bill

Thank you yssirk123. I looked at both sites, and I think I've found what I'm looking for.
