After printing one page, Epson ET-2760 lost contact with the computer. I figured I'dprint with the Epson XP-970. No problem. It printed fine. Then I wanted to print on a glossy, sticky vinyl sheet. Here's where it gets weird. Although I had the glossy paper on top, the printer reached below that and printed on a plain sheet of paper. Then it ejected both the printed page and the vinyl. It did that three times, and I gave up.

Also, I can't turn off my flashlight. I have to remove the battery. Maybe I should move to a different room since the furniture in here keeps moving around, and books keep flying off the shelves.

I long ago learned that when printing to some special paper or to a transparency (for overhead projector in the classroom years ago) I take all the other paper out of the printer and feed the special stuff one sheet at a time.

Agreed.
I always single sheet feed a different density (heavier than 20#) "paper", I never mix them.
My 4x6 tray has only photo paper in it, never mixed density material.

I stopped drinking before noon and it eliminated most of my problems. 😁

I'm afraid that's not an acceptable solution.

Thanks. The ET-2760 started working the second time I ran Epson's Troubleshooting program. I've never run into that mixed paper problem before, but I'll keep it in ming.

This stick vinyl is great, but it costs $1.50 a sheet so I don't want to waste it.

What kind of applications would the sticky vinyl be used for? Quasi permanent?

I ran into a similar situation when trying to print on card stock. I put the card stock in both holders and it then picked from the one it wanted but did not take from both.

Try feeding that paper in the single sheet feeder, if it has one. I had to print 20 menus on clear vinyl and the typical feeder wouldn't take it. So I tried the single sheet feeder and it worked fine. Perhaps the sheen has something to do with it.

Most printers have a "primary" (default) feed (tray) that they will always use.
I have one printer.
My (primary) "logical printer" is set for one tray (bottom), letter paper. I created another "printer" in Windows and changed the characteristics of that printer to be default to the rear tray, legal size.
I keep 4x6 photo paper in the upper tray.

They don't automatically switch, one has to explicitly alter the tray used if not the default tray.

I use them for customizing ukuleles. I have more, but you get the idea. I've also use them to print logos to put on uke cases.

I don't know how removeable they are, but they seem to stick forever.
