I have a 70-200 2.8 VR lens has was used four times, 50 2.8, 20-35 2.8 wide angle, 85 1.8, and a 105 macro. Thinking of a D7100 or D7200. My girl friend has a D80 and I sure like the weight of this camera.

Had a 28-300 and it was heavy as hell and the pictures were soft, I would like a replacement for this lens.

Any Suggestions ?

At age 88, I'm considering unloading about five FX DSL's with a bushel of lenses for a LUMIX FZ1000 once the FZ 2500 comes out in December.
(OK, I'll cheat and hold unto the P7800.)

Yes, you're right. I thought I was replying to Ron' s comment to you.
"Sorry about that, 99!"
I'm 88 and sometimes don't got both oars in the water.

No, Ron, I was only referring to your "Do you really think . . . ." Which struck me as a gratuitous slight.
Ive picked up a number of good points in your responses but am frequently put off by your asides.
You're so good, why be petty? -- ok, bad hair day here.

Good suggestion but is there any cause for the caustic preface?
Your expertise is acknowledged but your abrasive asides are out of line.
Civility. Is that too much to ask?

No, the D600 had a fatal problem with oil being splattered on the sensor. Nikon provided a free correction to the problem. I'm pretty confident the offer still stands. A simple call to them will clarify that. When I sent mine in, it came back as a completely refurbished body, including free service on other unrelated items associated with normal usage.

The well known and all knowledgeable Ken Rockwell reviewed the Nikon d3300 and said that if you have this camera you need no other.

I don't fully agree with that statement but it is very hard for even better rated cameras to beat this one.

Good luck in your venture

Best bang for the buck! Nikon D3300.

Excellent advice, but I have a slightly different problem with processing. I find I do absolutely stellar work after midnight. It's the stuff of genius. Time after time, I crank out world-class images, each and every one, only to find that somehow during the night, elves have accessed my hard drive and used their evil magic to undo all my incredible Pulitzer-winning shots and turn them into absolute garbage by the next morning--blurry, oversaturated, badly cropped messes with the most outlandish skin tones you ever saw.

It's enough to make you start your day with that vodka martini.
Excellent advice, but I have a slightly different ... (show quote)

I didn't know that!
Thanks. Now I'm smarter today than I was yesterday.

The primary parameter of 'good buy' is the intensity of desire.

The only drawback for you with the SX50 is, if it is indoors, the SX50 is not a super bright lens. It does have very good IS which will help some, but there will definitely be limitations in low light.

I doubt it will be indoors.

Jerry, do I need a library card to access your links? 😉
I believe the majority of the links that I have archived came from your posts here, along with your Dickensian comments.
Thanks for many wry moments!

USAA. offers very reasonable Valuable Personal Property at a reasonable rate. They pay without a quibble. Covers all inventoried personal property at home or away.
I've been with them 62 years without a complaint but with great relief on occasion.

A reasonable compromise might be to set a range that it won't go beyond, like limiting max ISO to 800.[/quote]

That is precisely what Autu ISO does. You tell it, don't go above xxxx ISO and don't let the shutter speed go below yyyy.
Additionally, you can tell it don't let the shutter speed go below the reciprocal of the current focal length.
My most common use of Auto ISO is in shooting theater stage productions where stage lighting is constantly and suddenly changing.
