Have been using an old Canon S80 and now want to upgrade to a DSLR. Considering Nikon D3300, or Canon Rebel T6i. Have used a Canon Rebel at work (older model, not sure which one, it's about 4 yrs old), and found the shutter extremely slow in auto mode in outdoor shots, so don't know if this has improved. Any suggestions? Looking for great pics and ease of use. Thank you

The well known and all knowledgeable Ken Rockwell reviewed the Nikon d3300 and said that if you have this camera you need no other.

I don't fully agree with that statement but it is very hard for even better rated cameras to beat this one.

Good luck in your venture

In my opinion, the D3300 is a all round better camera.

Nikon D3300. Can't beat it for sheer image quality.

Consider buying a used camera with lenses, just a few years old, like a D5100 (16Mp) or a D5200 (24Mp). You can then upgrade to a newer camera, and still use the original lenses.

My choice, after shooting 35mm, 2 1/4, 4x5 for almost 50 yrs, was the Nikon D3300, with 2 "package" lenses, 18-55mm and 55-200mm, the 35mm format equivalent of a 28-80mm and a 80-300mm. I bought my package on a "spot clearance discount" at a Wal-Mart for $575.00, pkg. normally sells for around $600.00. I've only shot about 300 images, I'm still learning the abilities of a VERY capable camera, as well as getting used to the idea that I can shoot everything I see without having to pay for film and processing, and just delete what I don't want before I download to my computer. I am happy with the D3300 and the 2 lenses I have, may add a 50mm f1.8 or f1.4 prime lens in the future for nat'l light concert photography, as I'm in NE Vermont and surrounded by some amazing bluegrass performers.

As Nikonian said, purchase a second hand camera first then see where you go from there.

To recommend a model/brand with any lens is basically useless until YOU decide where to go from there.

don't overlook some of the older used cameras. I have a couple of different newer Nikons but I always seem to go back to my old D700. It only has 12 mps and thats all you need

What is your budget?
What will you be shooting?
Do you have any lens preferences?
Do you have a store where you can go to actually hold the cameras in your hand?

Go to a Best Buy and check out the cameras you mention along with a Sony a6000. See which feels best in your hand. Which controls you are most comfortable with. You won't make a bad choice. You will make the right one for you.

There is no best . All depends on what you will be shooting . Do you need full frame or crop , do you need a fast frame rate or not , Do you need a low light camera to shoot high ISO or not there are so many variables there is no such thing as one single best !! Just my opinion . Just like saying a Porsche as good as it is is good for off roading !

Yep. As already mentioned. The Nikon D3300. It has 24 megapixels and very good IQ.

Geez, the OP asked a question, didn't want 4 more to go with it. Just answer the question, it's not rocket science, you don't need to know all that stuff.
My answer to the question is a Sony a6300.
