It might be still, but it is being seen online way ahead of print...

"Folks the overwhelming majority of imagery currently being shared today is generated by Cell Phones"
This would not be true for professional level photography. Show me the photographs that are being sold
commercially that are taken by cell phone. Few and far between. Not many wedding or events
photographers making money shooting on cell phones. Cell phone photography is similar to point and shoot
photography. Suitable for documenting, as you say, "lifestyle reportage photography", but not for
commercial use. Who do you know that is willing to pay $3000 to $5000 for wedding photography shot on a
cell phone?
"A single nine minute Cell video of George Floyd's last moments on earth sparked a revolution in awareness that has shaken the very pillars of our society and that of the entire World. No "Camera" image has ever had such profound consequences."
Not the same thing. Apples and Oranges.
"There is no torch to pass"
Because the topics are not the same.
"Folks get off your computers and continue capturing life's wonderful moments"
Says the person posting a lengthy response.
"This junior high school "Brand" bickering is so petty and juvenile... get a life!"
Surely you realize that in life someone is always claiming theirs is bigger.
"btw, no one gives a rat's butt about Olympic still imagery... it's video folks that pays the bills in that paradigm"
True, video is king, but that is as it should be. It is the imagery that provides the most information. But, to
say no one cares about still imagery is simply a falsehood. Agency would not spend so much money sending
photographers to Japan if no one cared. An example, show me a paper publication (newspaper, magazine)
that can display video. The visual imagery has, is, and until Harry Potter's world comes about, will be still.
There ... that's my two cents.
