Peter, Solar is not ready to meet our needs nor is wind.... When a cost effective alternative to fossil fuels becomes viable it will be the next Standard Oil, they will not need the governments help because we will be all standing in line to take advantage of such a technology... The fact is that Solar is not ready for Prime Time as we saw with the president's venture capitalist exploits, and Wind is not ready either nor is it a viable alternative for the country as a whole as it requires large open spaces and we have already seen the NIMBY protests ironically coming from some of alternative energy's biggest supporters when they realized what it would mean for their local communities.... Have you already forgotten Ted Kennedy?
Here is an interesting read that pretty much affirms everything I posted earlier about the science being overstated, and pretty much popo's your rebuttal of same post.

Renewable Energy in Iceland - Wikipedia:
"In 2007, geothermal energy provided about 66 percent of primary energy, the share of hydropower was 15 percent, and fossil fuels (mainly oil) 19 percent.[1] The main use of geothermal energy is for space heating with the heat being distributed to buildings through extensive district-heating systems.[1] About 85% of all houses in Iceland are heated with geothermal energy.[2]
Renewable energy provides 100 percent of electricity production, with about 70 percent coming from hydropower and 30 percent from geothermal power."
Apparently technology has a geographic bias.

I have a dilemma. I can listen to two guys who have photography as a hobby or the world's scientific community!
Now who would you go with?
Two guys who have photography as a hobby....:) I think we as humans give ourselves way to much "credit" for the small affects we have on the whole large picture...

Very Nice Peter.... Too bad the whole world does not have the geology of Iceland, I would gladly see us make that conversion if we could, but we can't.... Read about it..
Coal and oil wouldn't seem feasible if they were just starting up today, it's quite a job to get either of them to the powerplant to generate any electricity, of course sunlight has to travel 93 million miles to get here too. Here's a little sample of strip mining.

The debate is over. Climate change is a reality and man is contributing to it. That is the opinion of more than 98% of the worlds scientists.
The other 2% are studies conducted by the petroleum industry.
Now, let's work on a solution or tell your kids why you're going to leave them a world that they won't be able to live in because you're selfish and uncaring.
Have a look at North Dakota
OIL RICH, drill here, drill NOW. PA. NY, MT, SD, AK hold more than enough oil to eliminate the need for imported oil PERIOD.
Read that NATIONAL SRCURITY, self sufficiency, Americans WORKING, booming economy.
All we need to do is DO it
The only thing wrong with your "facts" are your facts.
Scientists trying to wrap their heads around WHY there has been ZERO warming over the last 15 years.
AND Why is it that with RECORD greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere the temperature does not increase?
Fact is Anglian University COOKED THE BOOKS, LIED, and excluded exculpatory data.
Noteworthy that Anglian University is the basis for all the global warming theory.
Nice try, but read the FACTS

This is an outrageous statement, considering that Germany now produces 32% of its electrical energy through green techniques.
This may be from domestically produced energy sources, but keep in mind Germany
imports approximately two thirds of it's energy. 8-)

The population of Iceland is approximately 322,930. The population of the United States is approximately 315,000,000. The use of certain technologies has a population bias as well. 8-)
Good observation!!!
I too have noticed the cooling trend in temperatures during past years. Must be carbon, oops that is for warming.......Bring on more of the Solar Radiation Management cover and pay for it with carbon tax, yeah that is it

The climate changes every day at my place. Even in the house.
In the Golf business. Had a meteorologist speak at an educational session and he said many "liberal leaning" scientists have adjusted measurements and methodologies to fit their narrative. Fact in 40 years the average temps on earth have increased .003 degrees. The question he asked was: is this part of th earth normal cycles or something man made. He made a very strong argument that it is a normal variation. Politics seem to be more important than real science.
The earth naturally goes thru warming and cooling trends. A small portion of the warming might be caused by humans but the earth adjusts to that. Burr it is clod here in Arizona. Must be the global warming.
