Only 2.0% of all prisoners in U.S. jails are atheists.

Your 2% number made me think. So I just Goggled to find what percentage of the US population are atheists. Guess what, it's 2%!

It would be therefor wrong for atheists to assume a "holier than thou" attitude because only 2% are in jail. :P

Not true! It is estimated that almost 20% of the population of the United States are either atheists or agnostic. The more educated a population is the less they need the crutch of myth and fantasy!

I really think these athiests, bring up this subject, not to
just to troll or bash, but that they want to be believers in the worst way!

They are trolling for evidence.
There is a big black dark hole inside them, and they
desperately want it filled, and to have purpose in life, to have a relationship with the God that loves them and created them, but don't know how.

We Christians should feel sorry for them, put up with the bashing, and try to lead them to God, so they too can have a relationship with their maker, who loves them greatly.

Some people look at God as a demanding God, who has rules and regulations, and man must comply to please Him.

This is so far from the truth.
God is a loving God, who did not spare his Son so that we
who believe can be saved from ourselves.
He is also a supplying God, not a demanding God.

He provides us will all we need, and wants us to know
that He is the provider, and not our works and efforts.

Bible says, God is Love.
,Our righteousness is like filthy rags.
, all have sinned and come short of the Glory of
God.

,harden not your heats, today is the day of
salvation, he knocks at your door, let him in,
you will experience a love, warmth you long for
and a blessing that can only be experienced.
He can put a smile on your face
nobody can wipe off, no matter your circum-
stances.

As far as proof that God exists, this one thing has done it
for me is the old testment prophesis, where there is no
wisdom in man. He can't predict the future with any certainty or sucsess.

Study the prophesis that were predicted and came to pass
that are 100% accurate.
Scientists, archeolegists, any man cannot find fault with
the prophesis, and say that any were wrong.

Its not a coincident that the three largest religions in the
world, all use the old testiment books of their faith.
Jews,Muslims,Christians.
Those three probably make up the majority of believers of
God in this world.

The numbers are probably pretty close compared to number of believers vs non believers if you consider these three religions. ???

Excuse the typos.

Chewey, did God's book instruct you to level such a fierce indictment on all UHers? I wonder which official God's book you are writing about? I have a friend who say's it's The Book of Mormon, and another friend who reveres the book that a gent named Mohamed wrote. It's very confusing.

Sometimes I think everything we pretend to know depends on what someone else has said. Crazy isn't it? Who among us has come up with a notion that is absolutely unique?

In sum Chewey, I'm not amused by your certainty that I'm on the road to perdition, hat, ass, and overcoat. Moreover I can't believe you read it in a book, God's or anyone else's.

All the best,

Martin

It really boils down to the character of the individual. Those with strong social character will, if agreeing to live in a certain society, follow the rules of that society regardless of their belief in a god or not. Character, integrity or morality(whatever term you want to use)starts with role models and is most often tempered with life experiences and I personally believe that those early role models(parents, current "stars" friends etc)play the biggest part. That helps explain why people growing up in the same bad socio-economic condition turn out to be such different people i,e the upstanding community leader compared to the crooked ponzie operator. This is probably most evident in looking at how pro athletes that were raised poor but received huge pro contracts turn out so differently.

Where do you get this? In the old testament, he is a demanding and angry god. Is the old testament wrong?

Again, no. Not in the old testament. There, god is pissed off most of the time.

With the possible exception that all of those prophesies were written AFTER what they predicted came to pass.

Except that you forgot the Chinese, most of whom have never heard of your god (funny that the creator of the universe would depend so much on earthly geography to decide who was "saved"), and the populations of India and the Philippines, to name only two, who wouldn't know Jesus from Osama Bin Laden.

Your beliefs, unfortunately, are not special. They are the tired replay of the conflagration of many, many religions, starting with Buddha, Krishna, Odysseus, Romulus, Dionysus, Heracles, Glycon, Zoroaster/Zarathustra, Attis of Phrygia, and Horus. All of those ancient gods have many parts of their stories in common with your god - the bible, it seems, is not even original.

Now.....

Explain to me how Zarathustra/Zoroaster, an ancient god that predates your own by THOUSANDS of years has the following story:

He was born of a virgin and “immaculate conception by a ray of divine reason.” He was baptized in a river. In his youth he astounded wise men with his wisdom. He was tempted in the wilderness by the devil. He began his ministry at age 30. Zoroaster baptized with water, fire and “holy wind.” He cast out demons and restored the sight to a blind man. He taught about heaven and hell, and revealed mysteries, including resurrection, judgment, salvation and the apocalypse. He had a sacred cup or grail. He was slain. His religion had a eucharist. He was the “Word made flesh.” Zoroaster’s followers expected a “second coming” in the virgin-born Saoshynt or Savior, who is to come in 2341 AD and begin his ministry at age 30, ushering in a golden age.

A wildly popular religion - two centuries before the myth of christ. And you and I would agree it was ridiculous, right?

In all of history, man has created about 3000 religions, each with sacraments, scripture, services and temples. You and I can agree to be atheistic about 2999 of them and call them what they were: myths and falderal, meaning nothing. Now we only need to agree on the one remaining religion that you still think is real.

It's a given....religion is the single greatest evil on the planet. Always has been and always will be. Men killing other men, women and CHILDREN because they don't worship the same Supreme Being.

I thought this site was for photography.
There are those who claim to be Christians who are not. The world expects Christians to be perfect. We are not.
All on this site claim to be photographers and some are a lot less than perfect.(including myself)
Since this has become a phylisophic/political site, I must say liberals are traitors and fools. Obama sucks. Harry Reid is a crook and Nancy Pelosi is a complete freak show.

Hmmm.... Let's see now. Although there are various estimates, the atheist communist governments of the Soviets, China and Pol Pot alone are credited with over 100 million murders. I would say that puts atheist communism at or near the top of the heap of murders, misery and evil of all time and they racked up that total in less than 80 years!. Those who do not worship perfectly at the altar of the State or proletariat are murdered. Sound familiar? It doesn't sound like atheism breeds peace and love but rather is more prone to having bloody hands when it comes to killing fellow human beings, US prison population of atheists notwithstanding.

First of all, what does this have to do with photography? Also, what is a Christian? I have a feeling no one will answer the same.
