I have used it for many years, it only gets better with every new issue. BTW updates are free, now they have introduced AI in masking. Lots of support, videos, classes, and webinars and its all on line if you need to review. It does have plugins for PS CC and 6 and PS essentials, LR it detects your editing software and creates a plugin.

Updates are free for each update but the update itself is usually $80 annually. I use it also...mostly like it... so, don’t buy to totally escape subscription models for the money. As an owner, you receive periodic goodies but ON1 wants you to also add their “plus” program for an extra $50 a year. As Nancy Reagan used to say, you have to be willing “just say no.”

Hi, i have used ON1 since PhotoSuite 9 up to the latest iteration Photo RAW 2019. It works fine with Nik collection.

I've used it so long i can't remember if i installed as Plug- in or if PhotoRAW installed NIK automatically.

Here's how to on a Mac, open ON1 , select a photo and double left click to open in Edit, right click on photo to open drop down Contextual menu. In the Contextual menu you should see all the plug in options in the lower section. If the NIK collection is not showing go down to "Send to other application" and left click, on a Mac this takes you to Applications Folder( Programs folder in Windows ? ) Scroll to NIK Collection and click "open", this will install NIK in to ON1 Plug-in folder and should now be visible in the Contextual menu. Before attempting to Edit go to the Preferences menu in ON1 and set up how you wish the edits/copy to be handled.

On1 Raw definitely supports plugins like NIK, Affinity, PS, and Topaz. Load the link under Preferences first. Then in Browse mode, right click to bring up a menu that will let you select what you want and it will open. After saving the edited image will come back to On1 as a new file.

I will make it short and sweet. On1 Raw 2019 is a standalone product that replaces Lightroom completely and Photoshop 95%. It does layers, local adjustments, and smart brushing content aware on the raw or JPEG file, all without creating a new large PSD file as with the Adobe suite.

Can it do everything that Photoshop an do? No, but nothing can. I bought Affinity Photo on sale for $40 to replace the very few things that I would use PS for that On1 Raw cannot do. Like content aware fill of blank areas caused by transforming, or warp perspective tools. At the most recent sale price of $80, On1 Raw 2019 is a bargain. And a lot more fun to use with its awesome Effects capability and easy to use masking tools.

Attached are two responses I received from DxO on NIK's compatibility during December 2018:

#1 They are written to work with Photoshop, so you can open an image in Photoshop, and then use the plug-in to open any of the 7 programs. When you open them as standalone, only 4 will allow you to open images within them. The others must be launched from a certified host software. You could do work in one of your other programs and then as long as the image is compatible with Nik Collection 2018, you could then use one of the four programs afterwards, but not all will be available as they need host software.

#2 Greetings,

The four in the Nik Collection 2018 by DxO that can be used as standalone software are:

Analog Efex Pro 2
Color Efex Pro 4
HDR Efex Pro 2
Silver Efex Pro 2

It will not work with DPP or ON1 unfortunately.

DxO Customer Support

You could write DxO (NIK) again for an update. I was disappointed since NIK staff seemed to have a professional attitude toward customers. Riley had responded very quickly which is not a trait from some other companies and answered all my questions; another trait not shared by all companies.
Good luck and if NIK does work now let me know.

I've been using ON1 standalone for about 6 months, I really like it.
Support is online only, and sometimes slow responding.

After having to leave Aperature to Lightroom I really was unhappy with Lightroom due to speed, easily corrupted databases and cost when they lied about always supporting a perpetual license. I don’t use PhotoShop as I find it to be a use it or lose it product with huge learning curve. I looked in earnest at a number of products and finally selected On1 as my DAM and post processing software. Never looked back and it gets better all the time. I do use Topaz Studio for some artistic looks and have both Luminar 3 and Aurora for other affects. You will not do wrong to pick it as your primary solution. As far as plugins it only support adobe solutions - PhotoShop, Lightroom and PhotoShop Elements but you can certainly export a copy off On1, open it in Nik then keep that copy in your folder which On1 will see and as long as you have saved the Nik work in a compatible format you can then use On1 to add other changes. Not the best answer but.. if you really need a full round trip solution I think you will have to use Lightroom as your Dam. Then both On1 and Nik can be used as plugins.

I use "ON1 Photo RAW 2019.2" on a regular basis as a stand-alone application as my replacement for Lightroom/Photoshop and it works very well.

I don't believe ON1 supports plugins but You can still use the Nik Collection tools by using them as stand-alone tools. It adds an extra step but if you don't use them all the time it is definitely workable. To use the Nik tools you would start out in ON1 process the picture until it is to the point you want to work on it with Nik tools. At that point, you export your from ON1 as a "Tif" or "Jpg" file and you can drag and drop the exported picture onto the executable file for the Nik application you want to use and the Nik tool will open in stand-alone mode with your picture loaded and ready to go when you finish up in Nik and save the image. If you want to do anything more in ON1 just go to the Browser in ON1 and select the file you worked on in Nik.

I don't use Nik on all of my pictures and using them as a stand-alone work fine for my needs. Nik plugins will work with "Affinity Photo" like they would with Photoshop. I also have "Affinity Photo" that I use if I need to use plugins that don't work as stand-alone programs.

I use on1 as a stand alone application. In the Browse module under file, there is send to. If your plugin is not there, you find it, direct it, and by the second time or less, On1 has learned that you want to sent your image to this plugin, and it will do so.

I always send my images to Topaz studio to finish up. The first one or two times, I had to direct on 1 as to where to send it. Now My topaz studio is listed, and I just click on it, and Voila. I do believe that the Nik collection was always an option under file : send to

The simple answer is "YES". I first loaded the NIK collection in ON1 2018 and have upgraded to the latest version 2019.2 (13.2.0.6564) and it sends my images over to the NIK modules as well as Aperture, PS-CS6, PS Elements, Lightroom 5 and other applications. I have found that ON1 will perform most if not all the modifications I might need from the other applications so I haven't had the need to use the feature with the exception of making sure that they all still work. No problems so far. I think you will find that ON1 is a very versatile product.

I just confirmed that I can send images from On1 Raw 2019 as JPEGs to all the NIK modules except Viveza 2, Sharpener Pro, and Define, which open the programs but then says "the file could not be opened". Color, Silver, HDR, and Analog Efex Pro all open the files and work fine.

Anybody tell me why this is happening?
