Would anyone care to share their opinion concerning On1 editing software? Also, will it support the Nik collection as a plugin?

I highly recommend On1. I use it in conjunction with photoshop ACR and Nik.

I recently purchased On1 Raw. I use it as a plug-in with Photoshop CC. So I cannot provide any feedback on the second part of your question. I have previously owned prior versions of On1 and liked to use the portrait and effects tabs. After a couple weeks with On1 Raw I think the effects and portrait modules will again be what I use the most. It allows me to develop softer looking portraits and some of the filters in the effects module are interesting and fun to play with. With that said, however, I think I could have gotten by just fine without it. But if you are looking for a software that does everything without a monthly subscription, I think On1 Raw is worth looking at.

I use it stand alone (less often) and as a plugin to Photoshop and Lightroom. There is a lot of overlap with Nik, but I don't think it supports plugins. Edit your image, then export it as a 16 bit tiff, then edit that in Nik if you want.

I use it as a stand-alone. It is my main software for post-processing. I don't have any experience with NIK collection but I really like On1 as an image processor.

ON1 has some really nice effects. I have not delved into it as much as I would like yet but I really like the fact that it runs as a plug in to Photoshop as well as a stand alone. With Photoshop as the nucleus, ON1, Topaz and Nik run as plugins. Really could not be a much better setup; too bad it still FAR exceeds my capabilities.....

I use On1 2018 mostly as a stand-alone alternative to LR. Sorry, I do not know whether it supports the “new” Nik Collection subscription.

I upgraded to on1 2019 from 2018, dumped LR and PS and haven't looked back.

My suggestion, most editors have free trials. Give the ones you are interested in a chance and see what works best for you!

On1 Raw definitely supports plugins like NIK, Affinity, PS, and Topaz. Load the link under Preferences first. Then in Browse mode, right click to bring up a menu that will let you select what you want and it will open. After saving the edited image will come back to On1 as a new file.

I use On1 as a plugin for Lightroom and Photoshop. I use Nik, Topaz, On1, DxO, Luminar and, two or three others as plugins. Think about this. These applications vie to be accepted as plugins to the Adobe Creative Cloud applications and not the other way around. Could it be that Photoshop 2019 is the industry icon and standard?

I have used it for many years, it only gets better with every new issue. BTW updates are free, now they have introduced AI in masking. Lots of support, videos, classes, and webinars and its all on line if you need to review. It does have plugins for PS CC and 6 and PS essentials, LR it detects your editing software and creates a plugin.

As others have also stated it seems to be a logical way to go if you don't mind the 9.99 /mth. fee for CC. I like to think of CC as home base with all the rest as plugins... Works really well as I have almost seamless access to all the rest via the filter menu. With available plugins Photoshop could very well be the industry icon; it doesn't do everything the very best, but with plugins you can find the best way for you and have an easy uncomplicated workflow with a lot more options.
