Excellent shot. I still miss the Fuji film back in the day, it was powerful

A very nice shot worthy of hanging. It has the appearance of pen and ink, and the line frame ads to the feeling of a quality ink drawing.

I recall in the 1950’s we argued whether photography was art. When you produce an image such as this with careful application of your tools to achieve the image you have in mind, it proves again that photography can readily be an art in the right hands.

Thanks for sharing

Dave

Age has not dampened the quality of this shot. Very nice!

Agree with theoldman. It does look like a fine pen and ink drawing. Jim, whatever you have done to the original photo, this is a splendid rendition. A comparison to the original and the effects that your artistry has wrought would be interesting.

Thanks to all of you for your kind comments on this photo. Linda asked if I would share the workflow, so here is as close as I remember.

First the original is a Fuji Velvia transparency shot in 35mm.
Scanned to digital file.
Opened in Photoshop (originally CS3 which was 32 bit)
Applied Flaming Pear India Ink filter.
Faded the filter to preserve some color.
Used the Photoshop Shadows and Highlights tool to lighten the imagine to my liking
Used the eraser tool around the edges of the image.
Used the fill bucket to get rid of the sky and surrounding area
Used the rectangular marquee tool to select where I wanted the frame
Copied and paste in place creating a second layer
Used the layer style tool in the layers pallet to select a stroke
Flattened the image.

Note: The Flaming Pear India Ink plug-in is now available in 64 bit. I went back and pulled the original and duplicated the process in CS6. I got very close to what I had done before.
