And boy are they getting greedy in how much the charge the seller. I am an author and after selling my book on eBay I don't make anything.

Yeah, it seems like they take a bigger chunk every time I sell something.

I also had some problems with eBay and return in the distant past, but they have instituted new policies and made returns/refunds much easier.

I agree. They were getting too greedy for me several years ago. As a result, I closed the account and haven't used it since. Another negative point, I'm still getting emails from them about "my account." They don't know the meaning of the word no or closed account.

It does not cost anything to signup for a paypal account. They walk you through step by step. It works primarily on your email address you provide. There are checks to make sure it is yours. You can tie your account to a credit card or your bank account. You can also let a cash balance sit in your account and/or transfer it to your bank account. If you purchase something they give you the option of taking from your cash account (provided there is a balance to cover the purchase) or put it on your listed credit card. They also offer a PayPal credit card. If somebody is purchasing from you they use your email address that you have set up with PayPal. Sometimes they will ask for your name and address from the purchaser.
I recently purchsed a lens from a fellow UHH. He had the payment within 15 Min and shipped the lens out that day. I had it by USPS priority mail in 3 days.
Sorry, did not read your post carefully. Use the email address tied to your existing account. Go into your account and look at what services you have set up. For the individual it is a versatile system for buying or selling.

Just be aware that the interest rate for PayPal Credit is 21%. Ouch!

So, does anyone know how you pay someone through Paypal? We have PayPal on Ebay, but have never used it for general payment. I want to list a Tamron lens, but am not sure if someone wants to buy it, how to direct them to our PayPal account.

Thank you!

PayPal is secure and all the buyer needs is your PayPal e-mail address.

I do, however, prefer bank eTransfer; minimal cost and just as secure.

Go to PayPal, you create a PayPal/payme account, your customers can send you money thru their PayPal account.

You have everything in place to do what you want to do . I would suggest you list the lens with Buy It Now Ebay Option . Make sure your ebay profile is set so that payments for items sold on ebay will automatically be collected to your Paypal account . You could of course list your item as an ordinary auction listing with a reserve ( doing so costs a bit more for the listing and interested bidders have to bid until your reserved price is realized ... again this type of listing costs slightly more ) The Buy It Now style listing tells interested bidders that you are selling your lens at a set price that all bidders can see and the first one to take the buy it now pays your asking price . Ebay is very flexible but the flexibility always costs an additional percentage so that you can list your lens with buy it now price and also with make offer ( the bidders can make offers based on your asking price you can either accept or reject their offers ... I find this one testy because I do not like a lot of bickering over price especially if my price is fair and within the range or reason . Hope this helps

baggit on ebay I currently am not listing taking a bit of a vacation
