Anyone else having trouble with the new Luminar 3?

I too had issues with Luminar 3 on my iMac - no problems downloading or installing, but when I pointed it to a folder and opened a raw image it somehow cropped said image on its own. Then when I tried exporting it the output was similarly stretched and cropped.

I do like Luminar 2018 which I use as the plug in for LR and it is still fine - I just deleted the Luminar 3 application and won't worry about it.

I have downloaded Luminar 3 but have not installed it yet on my iMac or MacBook Pro. Think I'll wait until the problems are worked out. Mahalo for posting.

I am having problems with uploading files from my external hard drives. No problem with using the hard drives in other apps.

Splash screen stuck on Win 10. I deleted my 60,00 file catalogue, on support advice, that loaded reasonably well on install. That deletion was supposed to cure my non-function problem, but of course, it didn't, and the file system is gone and the reason for getting the program. And on my hopeful reinstall it wouldn't accept the password it emailed me. I envied the promise since have never liked LR library and the easy process of losing track of files, for me, anyway, and the hope here is too good to be true, apparently. I have used LR since it came forth. So far, I have no reason to believe Luminar 3 is anywhere near replacing LR library. I will ask for a refund soon if some cure isn't offered. It appears this program was not ready for prime time, at least for Win 10 machines.

I installed it with no problem and exported a photo from LR to process some more but when I finished with it and tried to apply and return it to LR, it never showed up. The image went somewhere but I have no idea where.

I read somewhere, might have been here on UHH, that the option to import from Lightroom isn't available yet but is in the works for a future upgrade.

It was horrific! Total install took over 2 hours. Library looks like crap. Takes 5 to 10 minutes for the program to open. On install it just automatically added photos to the library, searched my whole system. So it added photos from my C drive, and then proceeded to add backups from drives D, E, and F! Wouldn't you think that any real software program would let you designate which photos you want in your library? I submitted a support ticket to Skylum. However, based on the reviews I have been reading there is some serious issues with Windows and their support stated it could be quite some time before I hear from them because of the overwhelming number of tickets being submitted for L3. I have since uninstalled L3 as it is useless! If L3 was a free update to L2 I would definitely ask for my money back!

It is a free update.

I have a 12-year-old school-system-discarded Win7 SP1 i5-quad 8gb machine and everything installed fine as an update to Luminar 2018. I was prompted to specify what I wanted to import into Library and the 43,000+ were added in about 20 minutes.
I find that my usual hygienic measure of closing other taxing applications is warranted with Luminar though. The Windows version feels like it's done as an afterthought to Mac thinking - not a Win ground-up thing. Seems to step on (conflict with resources) other applications if they're open and hang if I don't clean things up first. Otherwise works fine.
This just about hits a sweet spot for me. I can't justify purchasing LR and such for a hobby. Luminar understands Fujifilm RAW (I went to X-series from film-SLR because it felt more familiar to my hands and thinking).
I do miss such elementary things such as patching the occasional red-eye.
I am satisfied with the software if I regard it as a digital darkroom-in-the-basement.
So, perhaps my trailing-edge technologies, "if it works, don't update it" approach is paying off yet again.
(I still use DOS-5 to run ForTran-77 astronomical routines I wrote in the early '80s. They work like-new)
Good luck.

I eagerly downloaded and installed Luminar 3, finally, with - hurray - Libraries. But...it just isn't working.
Libraries don't open, cannot catalog, and it crashes, or sometimes the program itself won't load.
Have uninstalled and reinstalled twice to no avail.
Really disappointing. Anyone else having issues?

I've installed it on a 2012 MacBook Pro laptop and the install and operation is faultless. It found all of my 2018 license data automatically and the install took only a minute or two.
No problems on my machine.

It's has been a mess for me. It won't even open at this point. In the short time I had it running, it showed some promise feature wise. Most of the problems seem to be on the Windows platform, which has been the case with all of their applications.

My download on my imac was painless. In fact, it asked me where my current photos were stored and duplicated my file naming system seemlessly.

I have though experienced the following processing bugs:

1) When a picture loads it turns red for a moment.
2) When syncing photo adjustments half the time it actually copies the source photo rather than syncing the adjustments. And I have also experienced the weird crop and stretch an earlier poster mentioned.
3) After using the Erase tool, my workspace/adjustments dissappear. My adjustments remain, but I am forced to go back to a blank Portrait workspace.
4) when I click on the right arrow to edit the next picture, it often moves forward two pictures rather than one.

Hey, bugs are expected, and given the zero upgrade charge (kudos Skylum!), I am willing to accept and am sure will soon be remedied. No complaints here!

I couldn't even get it to activate! Awaiting an answer from Skylum on this issue.

I went home and uninstalled Luminar 2018 hoping for a fix, no dice so I reinstalled 2018 while keeping Luminar 3, I activated the lightroom plughin, opened LR, went to the manager and saw the plugin was activated. I opened a photo right clicked and to edit in Luminar 3 with LR adjustments and it went to Luminar and I made some adjustments just to see and then hit apply. The photo was sent to my pictures folder and not back to LR. Oh well, at least I found it this time....Not too thrilled...

Below is part of the message I sent to Skylum Support 3 days ago. Windows 10, 1GB RAM. Got their boilerplate response requesting patience before they're able to help. I'm not holding my breath:

I've tried and retried to install Luminar 3. I download the install file, click the install button. After the extraction, a box opens up saying "database opening failed," and I can't proceed. If I click out of the pop up box and then click on the Luminar 3 icon nothing opens. I uninstalled the program, reinstalled it, and the same thing happened. I'm completely stopped at the install step. Please help

It appears to me that Skylum has a major bug issue with this release!

So far I haven't had any problems with the new Luminar 3. For an experiment I brought into the Luminar library this morning using the Open Images for Quick Edit feature a dozen images from a folder on my desktop, processed the images using the Looks feature tweaked to my taste and exported them back to the desktop folder. It took 2 minutes 20 seconds to export a dozen pictures back to the original folder. These were all JPEG's averaging 6 to 10 mgb's per picture. For now I will continue to use Photos on my Mac for organizing and viewing but I like being able to bring into the Luminar library several images at a time to view and work on then batch export vs only having one image open at a time on Luminar 2018.
