I've noticed a dramatic decrease in shipping expedience from B&H with several recent purchases. This dates to before the holidays and is not related to them. I've been buying from B&H for years. Up to about 6 months ago, items in stock and eligible for expedited shipping came the next day to my DC suburb home. Over the last six months, shipping under the same circumstances started taking up to a week. Most recent example is my order for 2 items in stock eligible for expedited delivery and order confirmed November 26. One item arrived 11/30 after shipment information was sent to Fedex 11/28. Shipment information for the other item from my confirmed 11/26 order was only sent to Fedex 12/3 and arrived 12/5. So the delays seem to be at B&H and not the shipper. I am wondering what is the cause behind this marked delay in shipments at B&H and is this going to be a common occurrence?

I have noticed the same thing and also when you return something, a full credit is not issued. I returned a packaged deal with 3 items included with a lens. When returned, I only received credit for the 3 small items. I waited a week and had to call B &H for the credit on the lens. Finally after another 4 days I got my full credit.

Is it a difference between FEDEX home and FEDEX business?

The last order from B&H I got on time as promised was a D850 back in early January this year. Since that time I have had issues, delivery set for one day and Fedex never shows up with the package. It is an issue when it's something that needs a signature and I am the only one home to sign and arrange my days off just to be there then someone changes the delivery date without updating me. Had that happen with a Tamron then a Nikon pro series FX lens. Second time I was pi$$ed so called and told them to keep the darn lens. Did not order a lens from them after that. Delivery does not bother me as long as no signature is required, I just order so I do not NEED the item yesterday. I live in NE Illinois, less than an hour from Chicago.

You said and I quote "a full credit is not returned" making one believe you NEVER get a full credit on returns. But you did get it with a simple phone call. You should have said, a full credit was not returned until I called them. Your post implied that you never get a full refund, which is wrong.
WHY ARE FOLKS BADMOUTHING AN EXCELLENT COMPANY. 100% OF THE TIME A SIMPLE PHONE CALL IS ALL THAT IS NEEDED. WHY AIR YOUR DIRTY LAUNDRY, MAKE A PHONE CALL AND GO AWAY.

I'm also a long time customer, and ordered a hood for a 82mm Canon lens. It took over a week to come, and it was a 77mm hood. I had to return it before they would credit, so I had to reorder and after a week, the 77mm was sent again. A month later, I finally got a hood for the 82mm. They had the 77mm labeled as an 82 in their system. I landed up ordering directly from Canon.

I agree with you. I ordered an item on 11/26 with expedited delivery, and their listed expected delivery date was 11/29. The item did not SHIP until 12/7, despite me calling them on 11/30 and 12/4 to express my dissatisfaction. Still have not received the item. It was listed in stock at time of order placement, and nothing was said about backorders during my followup calls with them. I've done lots of business with B&H over the years, and service has always been excellent. Things have obviously slipped significantly. Won't be doing anymore business there unless they are the only option.

It is Christmas time and deliveries are slowing down everywhere - except perhaps for the Amazon, who hired private drivers to stay up in the havoc.
B&H is A OK.

Funny you should mention that! I just today contacted B&H customer service complaining about their deteriorating quality of handling shipments.
I have been a B&H customer for about 25 years. I hadn’t ordered anything from them recently (since they opened their new distribution center in NJ) until last week. My order for an in-stock item, with paid shipping, was placed a week ago. I checked my order status today, because I used to receive orders from them in 1-2 days every time - it is now a week since my order. I found that my shipment from their Florence NJ shipping point to my house (also in NJ) was routed through Miami FL, awaiting forwarding from DHL to USPS there. REALLY??? Shipping from NJ to NJ through Miami FL just so they could use a discounted (DHL) shipping company!!!!
As I mentioned, I sent the details to B&H customer service less than an hour ago. We’ll see how they handle this.

When the shipping is free, I don't complain. The problem is, shipping costs continue to climb and profit margins typically do not. So, I can see why B&H will do whatever they can to save some money on the transaction. As was mentioned, the shipping isn't free, you pay for it with your order. The problem is, if it costs more to ship your order than what the profit is, it's a problem. Besides, B&H offers paid shipping as well, so if you don't like the free option, pay a bit more and get it faster. I'm actually surprised they still offer it.

I mentioned above about a delay in a package shipped with DHL. Since the tracking showed it hadn't moved in 6 days I contacted DHL. They said contact the merchant and have them initiate a trace.

I emailed B&H asking them to contact DHL. Within minutes B&H responded saying they were shipping a replacement.

In the middle of what is probably their busiest season B&H customer service still shines.

Steve, interesting that you say, and I quote, "As was mentioned, the shipping isn't free, you pay for it with your order."
The reason I find that quote interesting is the fact that if I buy a Nikon D500 from my local camera store I will pay the same price as I would pay with B&H. PLUS, B&H will give me an extra 4% coupon that I can use in about 60 days.
So, I guess I do not see where I pay for it with my order if I get it from B&H. I am not disagreeing with you, I just wanted to point out the the cost of most of the equipment I buy is the same.
Plus, I get 4% on some purchases and shipping is FREE. You just can't complain about B&H. They are a great value and I will continue to work with them. My 4% came to $80.00 on the D500 that I can use on future orders, I do not get that from my local camera store. PLUS free shipping.

Happens with FedEx too.

I have ordered small stuff from Jacksonville (30 miles from here) and it gets handed off to the post office in Orlando. I it takes over a week to get here. I even paid $4.95 for S&H.

Going through USPS can save the shipper about $1.

You said this predates the holiday season, but you chose an example that starts on Cyber Monday. What was the pre-holiday season issue?

You gotta take the quote in context :)

What I'm saying is that when you get free shipping from B&H or anywhere, it's not free - the company has to pay for it and it comes out of the price you paid for the product. As you point out, this means that a regular camera store gets the entire amount, but B&H does not. Since they are making less, it's no surprise they are using the least expensive shipping available. The less they pay for shipping, the more they keep in their pocket.
